I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6. I am unsatisfied because my laptop is only 1 and a half year old and is already having battery problems. I recently had to buy a new charger because my original stopped working for some reason. When my laptop is not connected to an outlet it will only last for 5-10 minutes then shut down. It also overheats a lot.

I am looking for a new laptop, I will not accept Mac's and I prefer laptops under the $1k range

You could try a Dell Netbook 2100. But you will have to run Windows as the program. It is $369 for the computer and for the actual Windows 7 Professional program is $299. So that is still in your price range.

Hope that helps. =)

Here is a picture of the Netbook 2100. It comes in other colors too.

It depends on what you want to use your computer for. If your looking for a laptop that can handle hour of hardcore gaming I suggest you check out this site. If you need a small lightweight laptop thats easy to cary around, cheap and has a long battery life I suggest a netbook. I also found a laptop bying guide so check that out to find the right laptop for you. Hope I helped.

I've had an HP Pavilion dv6000 for almost four years and I've never had a problem with mine. Still have the original charger and everything.

Although, the original battery (which lasted me 3 years and was still working fine) was recalled last spring. I sent it back and the new one they sent me went bad after about five months.

i cant really give a certain type but i would go for something that has decent videocard/graphicscard/ and something that has a decent amount of ram but anything really good is gunna be out of your price range i would suggest a dell latitude 2110 as its the only laptop that wasnt total garbage and its less then 1000 probably 4 or 500 bucks depending on where your getting it

Alienware makes the best laptops and desktops you can buy. I think 1k is close to the lower price range.

No they don't. Alienware makes very expensive gaming computers, and from what I've heard they aren't very reliable.

My computer lifestyle is a mix. I can't place myself in a certain category. I need a student laptop, which also provides HD viewing for videos/games
