pretty sure that this is the right place for this question. Lets say someone had friends of all races, of all religions, and thought of them all equally, some even higher than his or herself. but there is a problem; when this person sees two people of different races together it makes them mad. not just angry mad, like, really really super pissed off mad.
Well before answering this question, we should define what racism technically is. The technical meaning of racism means viewing something strictly along racial lines. For example, saying that "Most Asians are business savvy" is not racist, while saying that "All Asians are entrepreneurial" is (note the aforementioned quotes are strictly examples and in no way reflect my actual views). Should your friend be hating all interracial couples on a base level he is racist.
i like kevins answer, but i do believe that this person's basis for not liking inter-racial couples IS race.
You mean you like Kevin's incorrect answer. Just because you like it doesn't mean it's right. Cuss I like the theory of ether but that sure as cuss isn't right.

??
i was kind of agreeing with you dude. i was saying i like the sound of kevins idea, because i don't want to think my friend is racist. but the voice in my head tells me they are.

Ahh my apologies. I must have read into it a bit differently. And I would like Kevin's answer also, in that case.

Racism is anger towards a race. Asian isn't a race. You are incorrect. It is a ethnicity. Actually, Asian isn't even an ethnicity. What you are probably referring to are the Orientals as a race.
You are incorrect on two levels. That's like saying just because I don't like white-black couples I'm racist when I have all black friends.
I may just have a pet peeve on interracial couples, and that's it.

Do I really have to prove you wrong based on source? You're using a different and outdated meaning of racism. It's not anger towards a race, it's simply viewing something along racial lines. If I say "That whites are the best race" (not my actual views again) I'm not showing anger towards other races, but I would still be racist. And whatever to the Asian part of it you little nitpicker you.
no it doesnt unless the friend is like black or something and they call them the N word you know stuff like that that has to do with there skin color otherwise its not really racist

It does though. Racism isn't specifically related to hate; however, the general population thinks that it is. As long as the kid's friend is hating the interracial couples because they are interracial he is being racist.
so then, i guess my friend is a racist, i have a new question pertaining to the original, if it can so be called "answered". assuming they are racist, would it be wrong for me to hang out with them? i mean, intolerance isn't ok, but i don't want to become intolerant myself you know? what should i do, how do i broach the subject with them, in a gentile way, and without sounding like a pompous ***?

Well that is honestly a decision you have to make by yourself. If you feel like you can't hang out with him anymore than so be it. Personally, if this happened to me, I wouldn't mind it. But it's your choice.
