Rock music is way too broad a genre. There are probably at least 2-300 sub-genres and fusion genres. Could you specify?
Try to be specific on what genre you are talking about. For example the best band in the world is green day they are an alternative punk band.
I have to say, Rush is the best rock band of all time. They are surprisingly good for only having three people.

They are one of the best of their generation. Just like how Zepplin and the Stones and the Who were the best of their generation.
The doors is my favorite rock band but the who the stones and zepplin are close seconds
