I haven't been around much lately... but I found something. I don't know if someone beat me to the punch or not so here goes....

A concept that was once fantasy fiction only is now somewhat come to reality. Although it apparently can't be used in space... it CAN be used in a gaseous environment.

what are your thoughts on the subject? Does it excite you? Are you indifferent? Are you interested in how it will develop? Do you have an opinion on about how you think it could be used?

Had to pass that link along to a Star Trek forum. I always love it when scifi tech becomes reality.

Could they just widen the beam and make the laser more powerful, so as to move larger stuff?

it seems that it holds things up via the power of heated gas... if something is too heavy then the force made from the heated gas may not be able to hold it up any longer... like an event horizon of sorts... what I'm saying is that there may be a limit in the weight of the object this technology could possibly move.... but in a gaseous container in space it may very well be possible to move a larger (if not massive object) via this means

I'm not an authority on this technology. I'm just making statments based off of educated guesses from what I know of physics and such
