A lot of people have been asking me when the new edition of the 'CRBWC' would finally start (and I'm sorry it took me so long...), but I wanted to make the second edition even better and more fun than the first one!
(In case you wonder what the first one looked like: this is the 'CRBWC 2010'.)

After hours of fun (and stress!) in figuring out the new CRBWC schematics, the gathering of info on the participating bands and fabricating the additional pictures to it all, I'm proud of the final outcome and so, without further delay, let's kick off the 2011 edition of the

Now, some changes have been made to the second edition of this competition, so reading the rules and guidelines is something everyone needs to do, even the voters from last year's edition are advised to...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5097/5530376806_b698294b37.jpg

The format of this World Cup for Classical Rock Bands is based upon the organisation schematics of the Soccer World Cup. It has the same rules as the Soccer World Cup in terms of competitors proceeding through it, but it will follow a few rules of its own too.
Below is a short guide to elaborate the >binding rules< for this competition:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/5529789379_02f0090bc2_m.jpg

-The 'CRBWC' consist of a total of 24 rounds being presented one at a time.
-Each round will be open for voting for a maximum of 2 weeks or untill a band reaches the points limit.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5178/5529789643_2c342038b7.jpg

-Each user of ArmorGames who wants to give a vote has the possibility to vote only once per round.
-All votes given by users are obligated to consist of an elaborated reasoning as to 'why' you choose these two bands. Votes lacking a proper elaborated reasoning, for example: "I like them" or "They rule", will not be counted. Elaborate on why you like them and talk about them, that's the main goal of this competition!
-Different to last year's edition, this time each vote in the group stage of this competition will consist of naming a "First choice" with with a value of 3 points and a "Second choice" with a value of 1 point.
-You only get to vote for two bands in a group. NO double voting for a single band and/or NO voting for more than two bands per group. No exceptions will be made in this matter.
-If two bands reach the limit of 30 points at the same time, the band with the most "First choices" will be declared as the winner of that round.
-The rule explained above, also applies if two bands reach a similar point count for second place at the same time in the 'Group Stage'.
-If, for any reason, two bands reach the limit of 30 points simultaniously and both have an equal amount of first and second choices, the band getting it's 'winning vote' first will be declared the winner.
-Further rounds after the group stage will have a 1 point count for each vote given and an according 10 points limit. Rules for declaring a winner will be applied according to the group stage rules.
-No discussions about the ruling on the outcome of a round are allowed.

THE FINAL MATCH:

-There will be NO playoffs held in this competition.
-You don't get to complain when 'your band' is eliminated from the competition. "Take the pain..."
-Swearing and obscene language is not tolerated. Always respect the opinion(s) of the other users participating in this thread, even if you disagree with their reasoning.
-If any situation should occur that is not explained and/or guided by the thread's rules, the 'Armor Games Community Forum Rules and Regulations' and the 'Popular Media Rules ("Read these rules or else...&quot' apply and are to be followed for this 'Classic Rock Bands World Cup'. They will be referred to when needed.
You can find them here:

Since this year's 'CRBWC' competition has a little more stuff to work with, I will start off as the sole Moderator for it, but there might be other moderators assigned over time if/when I see fit. Don't ask me for an assignment, since I will only assign people I know to have the same devotion to this competition and they will be revealed when the time comes, ok?

And last, but certainly not least... take heed:
!!! OFFICIAL AG ADMINISTRATORS AND MODERATORS WILL ALWAYS HAVE A BINDING WORD !!!
So, whenever an AG administrator or moderator visits this thread and decides to alter/delete a user's post or take action on an item or discussion, listen and obide to them as you would throughout the rest of the ArmorGames website.

I hope the AG users will like and participate in this 'Classic Rock Bands World Cup'!
So my main advice to all participants is to simply... ENJOY!!!

Now... enough with the talk... shove everything aside and...

I guess I'll have to be the final voter for Pink Floyd.

Their psychedelic rock music helped inspire future generations of alternative bands. Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall were both outstandingly popular albums that gave that rebel rock idea to the alternative bands (Green Day sound familiar?)

Van Halen, in my mind, was just another generic party rock band.

Led Zeppelin is a better hard rock group, not necessarily a better group, but generally harder sounding. I prefer that hard rock sound over ZZ Top's sound, even though ZZ Top does have a good sound.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, no questions asked. They've done more for rock music than just about any other group in history.

Having that said, I still have to vote for ZZ Top because without them, I would have never learned to play the drums properly. Had it not been for their song "Velcro Fly", I would have never been inspired to learn to play with my feet in addition to my hands.

Now I can play more complicated beats on the drums, and it's all thanks to ZZ Top's epic drum riff.

This is a hard one to decide both bands are good. They both have been part of defing rock music.

But I think I will have to go for ZZ Top because their 'rock' style is more rough around the edges and that's what appeals to me also their drumming is impeccable, the riffs are very memorable.

ZZ TOP

...I vote Bon Jovi. O wait, they were eliminated in the first round. Ummm...ya.

Anyway I guess I have to go with Led Zeppelin. I don't really like either band but there is something about ZZ Top's music that I just don't like. At least I can bear listening too Led Zeppelin. But like my dad has said, "It is sad when Led Zeppelin is the best thing on the radio."

Led Zeppelin is the better choice in a few ways. Jimmy Page's unique guitar sound inspired millions of other guitar players to make their own sound in a world where every riff sounded exactly the same. Robert Plant's raw voice is so distinctive- it's one of a kind, where ZZ Top's voice is somewhat distinctive, but more people know that harsh, high-pitched scream-sing that helped to give metal it's vocal sounds. John Paul Jones and John Bonham could lay the best beats and really set up a good rhythm. They can play loud and fast, or quiet and slow- their group dynamics help each other balance out.

I agree with you 100%! Jimmy Page is a very talented guitarist, to say the least, and Rob can hit those high notes like no other! You can truly feel the emotion behind their music when you listen to it... you don't have to listen hard! =)

Stairway to Heaven has also held a special place in my heart since I was a young'un. So of COURSE they're getting my vote this round!

That's my vote from page 70... I love both bands but Led Zeppelin is in this case the slightly superior band!

Sorry ZZ Top, I love your music and your beards but Zeppelin is an unstoppable force of legendary rock power!

Led Zeppelin can appeal to a wider genre, whilst ZZTop might be held back slightly by their mostly Southern sound. So, Led Zeppelin.

ZZ Top is one of a kind. Led Zeppelin is too, but they aren't as distinctive to me as ZZ Top

I'm an English gentleman. ZZ Top's southern sound is more exotic to me than that of Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin not as distinctive as ZZ Top? You kidding?

Anyway, I vote Led Zeppelin. Clearly. I voted for ZZ Top twice and they deserve a second place, but LZ is clearly a greater band. They have more talent, play more complex and nice sounding melodies, beautiful songs as well as rocking ones. They had more influence on the whole musical scene, are world known and landed a few big hits. I think they deserve first place.

Led Zeppelin by a landslide.

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time. Jimmy Paige is a great guitarist, as John Bonham is a great drummer.

Led Zeppelin has greater songs than ZZ Top as well. Like Stairway To Heaven, The Rain Song, Black Dog, and many more.

Led Zeppelin takes CRBWC winner easily.

Oh geez, ZZ Top by far and away for me.

Led Zeppelin has a few great songs that I love listening to, but they have a lot of stuff that is just dull and boring and I just don't get (primarily because I don't want to waste my time "getting" it).. ZZ Top though I could listen to them anytime, even the songs I don't really care for.

My vote - ZZ Top

I just voted and apparently it didn't post, or this will be another double post..

My vote - ZZ Top

Truncated reasoning due to not wanting to lay it all out (ZZ Top good all the time, Led Zeppelin good some of the time)

My vote - ZZ Top

I just seem to have that kind of timing...
Where do I begin?
I've read everyone's response yet I wasn't keeping a count so I don't know if I'm the defining vote?
It really doesn't matter because, "The song remains the same" off of the Houses of the Holy album is one of my very favorite songs. It was when I first heard it and now that my sound equipment is better it just makes it sound that much better. So, my vote has to go to Led Zeppelin.

Hahiha says it best that ZZTop does deserve second place. I love their style of bluzy/jazzy southern rock that is best played loudly and outside, such as at a Nascar race! I always take at least one of their cd's with me if I'm driving for longer than two hours because I know they'll keep me awake and smiling!
