Hi, I have a question. I tried posting images in a couple of forum posts recently, using the Image button above the message text box, but my images weren't displayed just their URLs, which weren't even clickable. When I view the page source and compare my posts to others which do have images displayed, the HTML for my posts looks exactly the same as for theirs. What's the trick to this? Is there a rule for maximum image dimensions?

Short note: Please try to keep the dimensions relatively small (around 660 wide), otherwise it just gets annoying to look at.

While I cannot recall having seen any of your posts, I cannot tell you what you are doing wrong, but let's troubleshoot:
You are not using the direct link to the image: You have been using google search, and ended up copying the link from the search, instead of using the actual address for the image.
You are using the wrong link: Again a direct link thing: Make sure your image url starts with only one http://, and ends with either .gif .jpg or .png
You are trying to show an image located on your computer, without uploading it to a host service (people do that): Uploading it to a host service would fix this problem.
You are trying to use the url for the site the image is on, and not the image itself...

I can't come up with any more right now, but try posting an image in this thread, and we will see if there could be anything else wrong.

Thanks for your reply. I was using ImageShack. However I think you've helped me debug it. I've just noticed that ImageShack's page URLs end in ".jpg" which confused me. I think I was linking to a page containing an image and not the image itself.

I'll try again now. If this works I'm fine.
