I think I've hit an epiphany moment in my life and I'm not sure where to go at this point. Allow me to explain
Five years ago my brother got a shiny new Xbox 360 Arcade that we all gathered around and played Halo 2 on. I stayed with my PS2 for some time, until i discovered the Achievement. the little *ding* that was followed with a message on the bottom and an amount of Gamerscore was equivalent to oral sex. Eventually I aquired my own Xbox, a LIVE, and began my quest for Achievements. Only after achieving 2500 did i discover the fantastic Xbox360Achievements.org and AchievementHunter.com did my score increase tenfold and my gaming style switched from Casual, to Achivement Hunting. From December 2008 to December 2009 I amassed 19K gamerscore, and from then now have 32K gamerscore.
anyway, tonight I was playing Kinect Sports with my brother, sister, and mom when a bunch of achievements began popping up in quick succession, giving me a total of 125G. I immediately praised every god of every religeon (as is normal fare with this amount of G in such a short amount of time) and gave out a series of hoots. My mom proceeded to question why i was obsessed over the *ding* and my brother immediately ridiculed me by saying the *ding* had no real value and I was getting worked up over nothing.
An hour later I was pondering what he said when the world came crashing around me - Teh last console generation lasted from 2001-2006, about five years. Teh Xbox 360 came out in 2005, and the other 2 in 2006. This november will celebrate the 5th anniversary of the three-console seventh generation of gaming, just about how long the last console generation began. This means taht in about a year and a half, the Xbox 720 or the Playstation 4 or teh Wii2 will be making appearances and my Gamerscore will be lost forever.
What really is tragic is taht I'm not even one of the higher-gamerscoreers out there. The top guy has like 500k gamerscore! What happens to all that work? Is it really all arbitrary? Will the slate be wiped clean in the age of Xbox 720? Fellow Achievement Hunters, please help me!

No, what's really tragic is that you have improved your spelling and grammar and it is still ridiculously hard to read.
I never laugh so long. "What happens to all that work?" work... How much money you got? Is it monopoly money? Oh, you got nothing. Ouch, you even pay for this. I already cry from laugh.
The term "Xbox 720" is just a title i use to describe the next Microsoft video game console
This made no sense at all. Thank you for wasting about 65 seconds of my life. And please, work on your grammar a little.
I guess i did kinda forget my point somewhere there...
My point was that I think that Gamerscore should be a thing that carries on with your Xbox LIVE account to the next console. Otherwise, those 24 hours i spent playing Viva Pinata, the luck to get a triple kill with a sword in Ranked FFA Halo 3, the immense amount of time poured into Saints Row 2 for the activity achievements, all will be lost and forgotten.

No one cares about it anyway. You're not going to become a cool kid by flaunting around your high gamerscore. You're a silly person for thinking it has any effect on anything, and you're even more of a silly person for not realizing this before.
It's pointless, only there to amuse you and give you some "goals" to strive for (as if playing and beating the game wasn't enough).
A lot of people disagree on that. To some people achievements are pointless. To me they are inticing, and I would also like to carry over my gamerscore to the next Xbox.

I assure you the majority of people who play on Xbox care very little when it comes to achievements.

I assume you have a 2-300 gamerscore.
just kidding ^_^ anyway, i think i've been hunting for these achievements because I like the progression. I'll play games for a month and then check my Gamerscore and see its increased by about 1000.
Though i do think i crossed the line when my post-christmas gamerscore prediction of 32k came true in mid-january
I do like achievements for the Xbox, but I don't really care too much about them. It's nice when I get one, but I think the last time I got an achievement was around 2 or 3 weeks ago.
So, achievements are fun and give a sense of satisfaction, but remember that it's just a game.
I remember when i got my first xbox. I played Halo 3 and CoD4 all day. I even went to block buster to rent random games for achievements. I tried for every achievement there was. Then i realized, the higher the gamerscore, the more of a no life you are. So i just quit going out of my way to gain achievements. I barely even play xbox anymore but yea, dont waste your time trying to get ahcievements. They really arent worth it. And what do they really prove?
