I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done. I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please
Once again, you bring up good points, and if i did debate with id make myself look stupid, because you obviously know how to debate better me. This is where being a Christian gets hard; its hard enough dealing with mormons and catholics and hindus and muslims who already believe in some deity, but then we must try and convince atheists that there is a Holy God as well.

The reason the points are good is because they are logically formed and evaluated without a bias tint. Winning a debate is about proving your view as superior to theirs. Facts are key, and facts are something which religion lacks. It's like trying to build a block tower with only pyramid shaped ones, the first block will be fine, but any further and it takes an elaborate setup to reach the next level. I am building with cubes.

Mormons/Catholics are both Christian.
hindus and muslims who already believe in some deity
Hinduism is polytheistic, Muslims believe in the same god as Jews and Christians.
but then we must try and convince atheists that there is a Holy God as well.
Go for it. Give me one piece of evidence, logical or physical, which leads you to the conclusion that God exists.
because you obviously know how to debate better me
it's more that he makes more sence. it's just logic thinking.
we must try and convince atheists that there is a Holy God as well.
the very moment that there is actual proof that he exists will turn all atheists in the world to change their mind. but aslong there is no proof at all you will be unable to change it like every1 els.
if i died and was infront of havens gate i would instandly admit i was wrong during my life on earth. and from that moment i will not deny god. and since god is all forgiving i'm prety sure he will forgive me from the sin of not believing he exists. and i'm also sure that god and i will have a good laugh about how he deceived me with the massive amount of proof going against his existens.
This is where youre wrong. Mormons and Catholics say they are Christians, but mormons believe in completely different things than us, and the same goes for catholics, I would know. I know hindus are polytheistic, I cant beleive they wont even eat cow; but muslims dont beleive in the same god as us either. As for my proof that God exists, my first thought is the complexity of life, its all so amazing that I just dont see how accidents make things like just a cell as complex as it is. Another thing, what year is it? 2012, that is the number of years since Jesus was born, which im sure you know. If the earth is millin and billions of years old why not say that in the calenders? Sorry im getting into the evolution debate again, but you cant really debate this subject without bringing the origin of the universe into it.
God is loving and forgiving, but he is also holy, which means no sin will be allowed into heaven. and good works wont give you a pass either. Also, you and God wont have a "good laugh" over you not beleiving him. The only way to get into heaven is to accept Him as your saviour.

First off, I'm not wrong. What makes someone a Christian is if they believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and messiah. Second, both Mormons and Catholics hold this belief, thus they are Christians. Arguing that they are not is simply showing a lack of understanding on your part.
I know hindus are polytheistic, I cant beleive they wont even eat cow
Can't believe or don't understand why? There's a difference. I find many practices which Christians do pointless, harmful, or just plain weird.
but muslims dont beleive in the same god as us either.
Again, they do. Arguing that they don't shows a lack of understanding about the basic subject on your part. Muslims, Jews, and Christians all believe in the Abrahamic God, but have differing views on the messiah and who was and was not a prophet.
my first thought is the complexity of life, its all so amazing that I just dont see how accidents make things like just a cell as complex as it is.
Argument from incredulity logical fallacy. Invalid argument. Just because you find it amazing is not proof that an extraneous, unrelated thing caused it.
Another thing, what year is it? 2012, that is the number of years since Jesus was born, which im sure you know. If the earth is millin and billions of years old why not say that in the calenders?
Because for the most part of human history there was no written record. Calendars are based off of commonalities. It is entirely arbitrary that it is 2012 now. This is a cultural thing, nothing more. We continue to use this system because there is really no reason to change it, and it would be opposed anyways.
There are far more types of calendars than you seem to think.
God is loving and forgiving, but he is also holy, which means no sin will be allowed into heaven.
Almighty loving and forgiving God could just erase sin from everyone before entry. Not even getting into that it's God's own self imposed rule that he can't allow sin in, or that he created the existence of sin in the first place.
and good works wont give you a pass either.
This is even more morally reprehensible than anything else. If simply having faith in God gets you into heaven, then have fun meeting a ton of horrible people there.
It is entirely unfair of God to require belief in him when he supposedly gave us free will and has failed to provide existence for his own being.
The only way to get into heaven is to accept Him as your saviour.
So God has a hero complex. Great to know. He also is a narcissist for creating us just to worship him.
do you believe anything, anything at all inthe Bible is true?
Depends what you mean by true. If you mean that something happened exactly as told in the Bible, nothing comes to mind. There are some things which are plausible, people, wars, places, etc, but are uncertain whether they were simply stories or based on actual things. Some ideas and morals from the Bible I agree with, others not.
Here's something which my mythology teacher said the first day of that class: "Just because something didn't happen doesn't mean it isn't true." Depending on the level of interpretation, you can take basically anything and find elements of truth to it. A completely made up story can be likened to an event which happened or an idea such as morals or wisdom.
I believe the Bible is a 2000 year old book showing the belief some people had about how and why the world is, half of which is selected Hebrew texts which are mostly compatibly with the idea of a creator god who is not loving or omniscient, the other half being third or more party testaments to a figure who may or may not have physically existed but contains some decent advice in certain sections and situations.
its all so amazing that I just dont see how accidents make things like just a cell as complex as it is.
if you find it so beutiful and complex as it is and as i feel 2. why do you have the need of believing in the invention of a even more complex, or better said, magical myths and monsters. as i hope you agree whit me that magic does not exist right?
what year is it? 2012, that is the number of years since Jesus was born, which im sure you know. If the earth is millin and billions of years old why not say that in the calenders?
not all religions live in the year 2012 now. the jews live in 4800 or something (atleast higher then 2012) and muslims live in 1600 or something (less then 2012) als is it just a calendar. their have been used many calendars in the past. in this 1 has turned out to be almost right. it's 1 day off in 150 year or so. this calender we use these days is just the most accurate 1. (didn't check on these facts so the numbers aint 100% right but the point is not in the numbers)
btw do you know where the names of the months come from some are names of other gods then the bible god. so by your own reason you are polytheistic aswell now, i guess?
which means no sin will be allowed into heaven
as soon i c heaven i will know it is real theat youve been right and i'm wrong. so at that point i do no longer have the sin of disbelieve.
and well the other sins... those are my problem... or actualy they are not a problem for me at all. because i do not believe in magic.
The only way to get into heaven is to accept Him as your saviour.
isn't god the creater? can the all mighty god not think of a better solution?
what year is it? 2012, that is the number of years since Jesus was born, which im sure you know. If the earth is millin and billions of years old why not say that in the calenders?
btw if you want to make a statement using the bible and getting on the side of a young earth (univers) you should take the 6000 year old earth not the 2012. but for that claim we also have proof of it being wrong. so i suggest to not head that way =)
God is loving and forgiving, but he is also holy, which means no sin will be allowed into heaven. and good works wont give you a pass either. Also, you and God wont have a "good laugh" over you not beleiving him. The only way to get into heaven is to accept Him as your saviour.
So if humans sin naturally, as said in the Bible, he can't accept you into heaven by default, because no matter what you do, you will never be good enough for God. It's sort of weird, but since we are supposedly created in his image and likeness, would this mean that God sins too? He's technically breaking his own law. And I don't think an omnibenevolent God would throw in a place of fire, and smoke, and screaming, and torture just for disbelief. Seems to me like God has some mental issues, wouldn't you agree?
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing
Yahweh made us in his own image did he not?
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
Okay this one we might have to give Yahweh. I don't recall a time where he did this.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Well Jesus is suppose to be 1/3 of Yahweh and he broke this one so...
Honour thy father and thy mother
Again guess Yahweh get's points here for not breaking his own rules.
Thou shalt not kill.
Where numbers are actually given in the Bible we get 2,476,636, though estimates bring this number to 25 million or more.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Mary had a husband.
Thou shalt not steal.
Stealing for God, as Jesus (1/3 God) says to do.
Luke 19:30-31 "Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.'"
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Just to point out a few times.
1 Kings 22:23 Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Jeremiah 4:10 Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people.
Ezekiel 14:9 And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.
Thou shalt not covet
God has demonstrated a number of times wanting things others have.
So out of the top ten don't God hasn't done two. Now I await this bs apologetics.
So out of the top ten don't God hasn't done two. Now I await this bs apologetics.
So I was 4/5 right. At least I made a point.
And now back to the earlier quote I was addressing from Pegasus.
The only way to get into heaven is to accept Him as your saviour.
I would like to bring up this quote. "Ten thousand soldiers will die in vain for their cause and no one will be moved. Jesus will die and entire nations will bow and scrape before those who come after him, claiming divine word. Don't speak to me of righteousness." - Travis Kentworth
