I grew up atheist for 16 years. I had always kept an open mind towards religion, but never really felt a need to believe in it. My sister started going to a Wednesday night children's program at a church. Eventually, I was dragged into a Christmas Eve service. Scoffing, I reluctantly went, assuming that this was going to be a load of crap, but when I went, I felt something. Something that I've never felt before. I felt a sense of empowerment and a sense of calling. Jesus called upon my soul, just like he did with his disciples. he wanted me to follow him. Now, my life is being lived for Christ. He died on the cross for my sins, and the sins of everyone who believes in him. He was beaten, brutalized, struck with a whip 39 times, made to carry a cross up to the stage of his death. This I believe to be true, and I can never repay him for what he has done.
I still have my struggles with Christianity, but I've found this bit of information most useful. Religion is not comprehensible in the human mind, because we cannot comprehend the idea of a perfect and supreme being, a God, but we can believe it in our heart, and that's the idea of faith. Faith is, even though everything rides against me believing in Jesus, I still believe in him because I know that it's true in my heart. I invite my fellow Brothers and sisters of the LORD to talk about how Jesus has helped you in your life. No atheists and no insults please

Personal attacks... how very, predictable of you atheists.

*stutter*

What? I was a Christian most of my life and I can't expound on that at all to guide you in your debate? I never attempted to personally attack you and I'm sorry if it appeared that way. I was trying to explain things to you, I've been on this site for years I know how it works.

I don't care if you don't listen but please don't say I'm personally attacking you.

This is the epitome of factual accuracy

Unless the beginning reasoning is faulty, or if a breakdown occurs in logic. I take an agnostic stance, to an extent, towards nearly everything. As moon pointed out we simply don't know enough to make an informed a 100% informed decision about religion, I'll add to that we don't know enough to make a 100% informed decision on 99.999% of things.

You cannot know what we don't know.

Neither can you, make the claim all you want but our points still stand. We are humans, we are fallible, our knowledge is limited, only those who are ignorant are sure of their opinions. And those who are completely sure of their facts are ignorant as well.

Very ironic statement. Especially juxtaposed with the above ^

You guys are doing it again. >,>
Why can't you just let them believe in what they want?

And Einfach I can compromise with you, the loser is technically the winner. They understand faith and they see the facts.

Is it your job to fix their beliefs to what you see fit? Is that your goal in life?

What I'm TRYING to get everyone to see is that no one has to make anyones beliefs fit their understanding. Just leave some things alone so it isn't so ****ty in the WEPR anymore.

I am sure that X=X. Therefore, I'm wrong.

I hate the jump - "we're entitled to believing what we want" to "you shouldn't argue because you're interfering with people believing what they want (rather than what's right)."

<sarcasm>I don't have to present any logical arguments for or against. I'm entitled to my opinion and anyone who doesn't say so is a troll / flaming / place some label here.</sarcasm>

I'm not personally attacking anyone. I'm just letting the righteous people know not to reply to this thread anymore. It's turned into a monster, and I have to kill the monster I created. I'm sorry that I tried to make a thread on common views with other people. You atheists basically took this and barged in without any respect. Your own thread has fallen to the bottom. There is one thing that I have proven here, though. You are all scared, you are all scared because you know that the Grace and Mercy of Jesus Christ is truth, but you don't want to believe that it's true. So you try to writhe and slither like snakes to try and extinguish any outcry of Christianity. You know it's true, but you don't want to believe, and this is why you all have attacked so violently.

This seemingly-humble "I-don't-know-anything-so-I'm-less-ignorant" is incredibly arrogant and presumptuous in implication in reality. You're making a generalization based off of things that you even claim that you don't know about so that you can say that I shouldn't claim to know anything either.

You are missing the point entirely.

I am not saying that you have to give up completely, all I'm asking is that you don't shove all these facts and stuff down peoples throats. It intimidates people, and they don't need that when they are probably outnumbered in their religion 1000 to 1.

How are they to make a logical argument if they have 10 people twisting their words around and saying they win? That is sending one guy out with a rusty sword to face an army. It just doesn't work.

The good, say the mystics of spirit, is God, a being whose only definition is that he is beyond man's power to conceive- a definition that invalidates man's consciousness and nullifies his concepts of existence...Man's mind, say the mystics of spirit, must be subordinated to the will of God... Man's standard of value, say the mystics of spirit, is the pleasure of God, whose standards are beyond man's power of comprehension and must be accepted on faith....The purpose of man's life...is to become an abject zombie who serves a purpose he does not know, for reasons he is not to question. If they're right, then they'll teach them all something. We only fight them one-at-a-time simultaneously. :P

And this is not a war - it's a discussion. We aren't opposing sides - we are friends seeking the truth, each with our ideas, and collaborating and verbalizing our internal thoughts.

That's absolute Bullcrap. You've done nothing but attack my reliegion and beliefs. You're in this thread to extinguish Christianity. If you were here seeking the truth, you'd be asking questions rather than using some bull crap philosophy that doesn't work. I gave links to proofs and to CD's. If you were looking for the truth, spend the 15 dollars and buy the CD. I have found the truth. All you're doing is attacking me.

This is true - it's a discussion.

If only I could understand this sentence. Perhaps you could verbalize WHY our arguments are wrong???
All you're doing is attacking me.

Mistake - you take it personally - we attack your views, not your person.

They can't be right, nothing can be right. You can't prove that atheism is 100% correct, and Christians can't prove they are 100% correct.
Hell I don't even know why I tried to get people to lay off.
I just wanted people to be friends and be able to have a decent, nice debate when it came to religion. D':

I guess it is contradictory to my point, because instead of me trying to get one side to change, I'm getting everyone to try.

Just.... be friends?
