What do you think of modern music? I mean this is how I see it the 90's was crazy out of control and then 2000 Progressive rock started getting hot like greenday, switchfoot, threeday grace and my chemical romance along with other rappers and pop music singers and then now rock seems like its dying i havent hear a hit song that was rock just pop music like Bruno mars with "ill cacth a grenade" or taylor swift and even selena gomez

Sorry to sound like a snobby prick, but progressive rock sorta died out before 2000, and all of the bands you named after making that statement are pop-punk bands... except Switchfoot, those guys are pretty hardcore, especially considering the scene in which they are apart of.
Now, I couldn't give a slippery sh*t about the Top 200 charts or the Billboard-thingy, but I do know that Deathcore has been getting a lot of notoriety recently, especially with the "hardcore" teenage sub-culture. Of course, I hate most of the acts in that genre, but I have found a few gems in the rough here and there.
Oh, and what about Nickelback? Those guys technically are a rock group, even though I consider them pop. Also, Green Day is still very popular, and Linkin' Park is too... Even though that band leaves me feeling like a slit-wrist anime lover whenever I even speak the name. (shivers)
But yeah, rock is still around, it's just conformed to sound like rap/pop/whatever.

Rock is still alive and well, it's just not as successful as rap or pop or the rappy/poppy variations on rock. Indie/alternative and even more classic rock-sounding things are definitely still around.

Well, obviously a genre doesn't die off I mean it still exist but, Its not getting as much attention just how thisisnotanalt previously stated kind of and also my chemical romance is a pop=punk band but, they do play progressive rock but, still besides that. What are your thoughts on modern music itself

society wants, catchy, low level of thinking songs. thus why bands like slipknot are succesfull. also the reason that all these pop and hiphop artists are. i respect bruno mars to death but the ONLY reason he started singing was becasue of the money. he was originally a song writer for many artists. but ya im kinda tired of radio and stuff. even if they play some good songs every now and again they play them 50 times a day and i get sick of them a week into there air

OMG exactly that why I'm not into modern music for example That song that goes " i put my arms in the air sometimes" i like it and now more but, before when it was new they played it over and over and over again which got annoying which made me dislike the song they have to start playing other song and once in a while those classic hits

thanks but, im still not a fan of modern music just because its sometimes stupid and meaningless or it just not good at all and they only play hit singles on the radio which is depressing

Maybe you should listen to underground alternative?

If you didn't know, underground is anything that isn't something super popular.

I heard underground alternative is at it's highest point than it's been in a while.

2000s, the '80s born again.

In the '80s, skinny jeans were popular, and in the 2000s, it is popular again.

In the '80s, there was a large counter culture, and in the 2000s, a new large counter culture.

In the '80s, there was a recession, and in the 2000s, there is again a recession.

I'm quite frankly a huge fan of both genres. I'm just waiting for an avant-garde black metal band that only exists on metal-archives and myspace blends the two together into something awesome.
