If you really want my opinion: I don't think Iran is going to be in any real power any time soon. The internal strife they have with civil unrest disallows the unity and solidarity needed for a country to truly be great. Too many feel forced into Islam, abandoning their Zoroastrian beliefs for the Khomeini and his regime. University students stage protests to send the message to the world that they do not agree with their government. How can a nation rise to glory with such internal tension?
You sound like you want nuclear war. Do you realize the consequences of that? Not only will there be a world- wide nuclear fallout, but hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people will die. I personally think that Iran will become a democracy, and there will be something similar to what's happening in Libya before anything happens.

Even if they were to rise, their nuclear program was recently crippled by a computer virus. They are years behind where they were and are going to have a very hard time getting back to where they were, much less advancing past other world powers in the nuclear area.
