Check this out, this website called "The Escapist" had a bracket for game developers, and the people voted on the winners. This year in particular was both surprising and unsurprising.
Four PC-dominated developers made it to the finals, Blizzard for WoW, Bioware for Dragon Age/Mass Effect, Valve for Steam/L4D/TF2, and Mojang. Yea. Mojang. Who beat Obsidian (New vegas), Namco Bandai (Pac Man) and (get this) NINTENDO.
Valve lost to the might of Mojang, and Bioware trounced Blizzard. How ironic, Bioware was once an upstart indie developer as Mojang is today, and in this final round, Commander Shepard had to face the creeper that he once was.
Eventually, after much forum-flaming and what-not, Minecraft pointed Hawke onto a pressure plate, of which sent millions of flaming arrows flying into his face.
So elaborate. Why did Minecraft beat such developers like Bungie, Nintendo, bethesda, Visceral, Valve?
PS to the community - i was looking through their forums and i found that they're all a bunch of crazies (reminded me of my time on Kongregate). I like our forums better. (long live armorgames.com/community!)
