You probably came into this topic thinking I'm a serial murderer posting a list of people I've killed on a random internet forum because serial murderers are freaks like that.

Think again.

So what IS it?

This is ACTUALLY a topic where I'm going to be posting stories from time to time. What kinds of stories? Well, I'm conducting a sort of social experiment at the moment, and the stories I'll be telling are the "results", so to speak. What exactly is going on? These "results" are nothing more than the tales of times I've been tailgated for going the speed limit.

Wait, WHAT?

You probably think I'm really stupid right now for thinking people would care about this. But it DOES have a point.

So what IS the point?

The point is twofold, but first, a full explanation of what's going on.

I'm seeing how many people I can get to tailgate me or otherwise be a jerk (cutting me off, etc.) to me, but the catch is I'm doing nothing at all illegal/wrong/whatever; all I'm doing is observing the speed limit, being a good defensive driver, etc., and seeing what happens. No trolling or anything is involved in this.

As I said before, the point is twofold: One, this topic is intended for mild entertainment. It's not going to be as fun as playing Sonny 2, but I'm sure someone out there will chuckle or something. Two (and this is the REAL point), it's intended to raise awareness of lousy driving habits and how we as a whole seem to always be in a rush (which leads to the aforementioned lousy driving).

You mentioned stories earlier. I want story time.

Fine, I've got two for you.

The first one happened the very first time I drove by myself. I was coming home from a friend's house after working on a physics project and had come up to a bridge. This bridge is rather well-known in our area as the bridge where ticket cops love to chill because the speed limit's 25 and people usually do 50+ over it for some odd reason. I, being the fresh-off-my-permit driver I was, decided to do 25 simply because I didn't want to get a ticket the first time I was out on my own. So I'm driving across this bridge, and this Mexican dude (no racism intended) apparently isn't used to doing 25 on this bridge, since he was tailgating me the whole way. Now, I've been tailgated before while I was on my permit, but that was nothing compared to this guy; there was probably less than half a foot of space between our cars.

I kept going 25 around the bend, sped up to 35 at the sign (he didn't back off), and just kept doing what I was doing. A lane coming off the freeway joined up with our one lane, so I merged right (since I was turning right up ahead) and the guy behind me zoomed off at something like 80 mph... right into a red light. He sat there for about 10 seconds as I chugged up next to him at 35. Light turns green, same deal. He went flying off, I kept chugging along at 35, and this whole progression kept repeating itself until I got to my turn. I didn't wave to him since I didn't want to get shot at (hey, I live in a ghetto, and again, no racism intended), so I just turned and kept going.

The other one isn't nearly as long. I was doing 35 on my way to school, hit a school zone and dropped to 25, then got tailgated by a cop, of all people. He was on me all the way up until he turned into the parking lot for the high school there. Great example you're setting there...

This is boring!

Go find another topic then.

I don't drive. Why should I care about this?

I'm sure you know someone who does drive

So what exactly are you trying to get across with all this?

Long story short, people are in way too much of a hurry nowadays, and their crappy driving habits make that all too apparent. I'm trying to get people to notice this and to, well, not be in so much of a rush, I guess.

I've got a cool story for you, bro. Can I post it?

If it's relevant, by all means, post it.

That's basically the end. The hitlist so far:

Mexican dude
Cop

I know that's a short list. There's still PLENTY more to come, I'm sure...
