Basically, to reduce spam you have to unlock the smileys the same way you would unlock armatars. We could have: Happy and sad-100AP Party and confused-250AP Angry and sunglasses-375AP etc. Each armatar unlocked adds a smiley. I was thinking of epic smiley at 10,000AP?
I still do not see why you can't just do and the like. Smileys are annoying. And I see no reason why you needed a new thread for this, you could have just posted this idea on the other thread. As for your idea, it might reduce annoyingness, but I doubt many people would like it. And you'd run out of emotions before you got to 10,000.
The forums here won't be updated anymore unless there is some serious site-crippling problem and there won't be AP in AGv3. Please post suggestions for forums and other things in the AGv3 forum. Look first to see if it is already suggested and if not. If there is already a relevant thread on the subject.
