That sounds like the proverbial "iece of string" question in that it depends on many factors.
Some of these would include the speed of your computer, how full your hard drive is, the number of other programs you're running at the time, your Internet connection, your anti-virus program and whether your computer is infected.
Of course, some games are pretty big, so if RAM is in short supply, that too could impact. I've noticed that a number of games offer modes with lower screen resolution, maybe you could try this option to see if it helps.
