The new game came out for XBOX about a month ago. Although it hasn't gotten very much publicity, it's pretty good. There aren't that many maps in Live, but all of the maps are at least okay to play in, unlike CoD.
It is also slightly more balanced, and the players have a little bit more health. There are also tons of places for snipers!
In domination mode, there are usually 29-32 players per lobby. You can buy guns in it, but not as many. The controls are virtually the same as in Black Ops.
However, the plotline is too far out (the Koreans have successfully invaded the U.S.) and the Campaign is extremely long and boring.
Have you seen the plotline? It's the best thing in the game. -.-
It's better than CoD's, dare I say better than Battlefield Bad Company's story as well. The only problem was how it was layed out, Battlefield Bad Company 2 was great because you was only still in the game halfway because your teammate (CoD reference here) didn't want "some pu$$ies with heartbeat scensors going in for some special ops ****".
Something like that, it was halirious coming from CoD6 to Battlefield Bad Company 2 to see that.
Homefront? It shoves all of this intended emotion in your face, it's rediculous. I'd prefer have it like in Crysis 2 - where you pulled up near a guy who hailed your car, asks for them to wait so he could pull out his daughter / wife / girlfriend / w/e and just as he pulls her out the driver drives off away from them as the building starts collapsing. I believe your character reaches out and struggles to grab them (ultimately failing) whilst a fellow soldier is yelling "Wait what the **** are you doing! WAIT!"
Or something like that, but it was like.... Dude? Was that necessary?
The worst thing was you was inches away from the devastation hitting you, meaning that was necessary... :<
Instead Homefront has a guy causing an accident with an artillary piece (which accidents are great, he wasn't exactly trained, he's only a rebel), but then you have the girl you go with screaming about this patriotic sounding junk with "Our guys being down there" - whilst you're being held up in the tower. It literally blocks you from getting out. For another scripted event.
I think it was a result of Modern Warfare 2, the campaign handholds you and a perfect example of it in Homefront is the "Don't alert the guard", when the guard was behind the gate. You could jump, crouch, try getting his attention and it wouldn't work - they put effort into making sure that would not happen. Why can't I mess up like that? BFBC2 had hints of this as well, Crysis 2 had no signs of this whatsoever though.
Anyway. I'm off with my rant. If you want freedom in singleplayer, get Crysis 2.
If you want teamwork in multiplayer, get Battlefield Bad Company 2 (or Battlefield 3).
If you want something fast-paced, get Homefront I reckon. But even then I am unsure as to how balanced it is (look at the snipers recoil... tut tut tut).
