I have only been asked to deactivate an account about 8-10 times since I have worked at Armor Games. A lot of people would rather step away and come back with nothing lost.
"nothing lost"?! If someone leave AG for a while and then return; they have probably moved down with the rank and lost some AP.
I think what Justin means by 'nothing lost' is that they'll still have their account. People leave then come back to their account rather than creating a new account.
For example: firetail_madness doesn't come around often and uses his account, he hasn't moved down in rank and I don't think he has lost AP.
If people would decide to not want their account anymore then they could simply E-mail an Administrator to deactivate it for them.
Bad things that I see with this idea: -Someone logs onto your account at home then they deactivate it for you without your permission.
-You deactivate your account but then decide that you would like it back and AG refuses to let you have it back because you deactivated it.
I think it's an unnecessary thing to have since you can E-mail an Administrator if you don't want your account anymore, or if you don't want to use it anymore then you can just empty everything off it. I don't see any good reasons why you would want to delete an account.
Ranks like squire/knight/king/etc only go down if you lose AP.
I think that he meant your rank on the site as in firetail being ranked #1, that sort of thing.
I personally don't think it's a good idea because if you were ever hacked, they could deactivate your account. If people really wanted to get their account deleted, they'd email an administrator.
because if you were ever hacked, they could deactivate your account.
Terms and Conditions do state that you're responsible for any activity on your account. If you have a weak password and get hacked, it's really your own fault.
The T&C's also say that if you ever want to stop using your account, just don't log in any more, or stop visiting the site, but if you *really* want it disabled so users can't leave you comments, etc., then you can Email us and we'll disable the account.
But can't you just close your comments? It might be useful if you have second thoughts. I made my account in June but all I did was play games until November.
