What is your response to these leaks, and wikileaks in general? I think that they should be commended for showing us what our government really is doing.
I wonder how long before this gets turned into a religious debate - I'd give it a week at the most.
Anyway, on topic, I agree wholeheartedly with the actions of wikileaks - it's not right to withhold information from the public UNLESS that information really is highly dangerous.
I disagree with wikileaks simply put because they have already cost innocent civilians their lives, and military troops lives with information leaked. It's a factual statement, not opinion. I've got buddies that are stationed in the middle east right now and they all tell the same story of how their informants are scared to give potentially life saving information anymore.
In so far as this release, while I see a little bit that is damaging, I think the overall picture that is being painted justifies quite a bit of what we are doing - even though I do find it awful convenient that programs that are incredibly important to our rehabilitation efforts of accused terrorist is missing from the paperwork that they leaked (wikileaks is already known for releasing papers that make a big splash, and holding back information that dampens that splash).
I am all for legit whistle blowers. A lot of goood has come from them in the past. However, Wikileaks has become the exact organization that they rally against (very secretive, not at all transparent etc) and has turned into a dog and pony show whose leader has become a "HEY LOOK AT ME EVERYONE!!!" type.
The concept that the people should know everything the government is doing is not only stupid, but dangerous. A true democracy (one where the people have 100% control of all aspects of the government), tend to be about as successful as communism (as in, they aren't).

With a nice 0% of civilizations adapting this and thus a 0% chance of this being proven or provided with evidence.

It's morally justified to die for the right cause - right now I don't think the war in the middle east is right (after all, aside from oil, what business do we have?), and therefore not sending the information is justified but then if they were to (let's say they believe the war is right) then being "threatened" by the truth being revealed (which is morally justified) is wrong.
Complex situation, but in the end half of the problems you mentioned regenouis is because of human stupidity and even secrecy in the first place.
highfire, you strike me as someone that tries to utilize phrases and trend slogans to solidify your point. If you had done even a remote amount of research you would be very aware of significantly more reasons for us to be in the middle east than any kind of business. I held the same misconceptions about us being there until I went active. There is a significant amount of data available for what hussein did to his own people, torture wise on a massive, genocidal scale. Afghanistan has a government that was being over-run by a terrorist organization. The fact that as a society we were more upset about being in a conflict than the atrocities that are and were happening I believe demonstrates our selfishness and is pretty disgusting in a time when we like to consider ourselves enlightened. We are unwilling to help countries whose population desperately needs assistance simply because it doesn't have a direct affect on us.
A true democracy can't exist simply because there is no such thing as true balance etc. So, while I was talking theoretics, my fault for not clarifying.
The Mastermind behind 9/11 threatens that he will unleash a "nuclear hellstorm" if he is caught. He also is threatening 9/11 type attacks on Heathrow Airport.
This threat was picked up by the leaked files from Wikileaks. Read the article to know more.

This statement is completely illogical and if it is true 5then the people are really stupid.

Actually it's not. Wikileaks revealed names of informants in their documents. So yeah, the Iraqi or Afghan informants have a reason to be scared... Here's something I just found: WikiLeaks Reportedly Outs 100s of Afghan Informants. I know it's old but you see what I mean.
