Indie games on the PC are a varied bunch. One moment gamers will be playing an enthralling long-lasting game. The next theyâll spend 20 minutes completing a game thatâs actually very engaging despite its relatively short length. Fancy Pants Adventures by Brad Borne is barely a 15-minute gaming experience, but even then it is extremely fun and worth playing by platform game fans.

Fancy Pants Adventures Gameplay
Fancy Pants Adventures is easy to get into due primarily to its inviting platforming gameplay. Gamers guide Fancy Pants Man through a series of stages that feature half-loops, cliffs, hills, and other such environmental features. There are collectible âcoinsâ in the form of squiggles and hidden trophies strewn across the entire game, so a little exploration is definitely necessary for hardcore completists.

What makes Fancy Pants Adventures so much fun is its pure, unadulterated platforming. There are a few giant spiders and other enemies that gamers can take down, but for the most part, Fancy Pants Adventures is about jumping from ledges, bouncing off of springs, and running through levels at high speeds. Itâs a simple formula, but an extremely fun one at that.

Graphics and Sound
Fancy Pants Adventures has a nice hand-drawn look to it. The color palette consists of pastel hues, and there are scribbles here and there that add a nice touch to the gameâs artistic look. Fancy Pants Man himself looks like a hand-drawn stick figure, and this actually helps him stand out and gives him charm and personality unique to his character.

Throughout each of the three levels in Fancy Pants Adventures gamers will hear a mellow, ambient soundtrack that can instantly be associated with the gameâs art style. The music in the game has that indie hipster vibe, and it only emphasizes the gameâs indie feel even more. The gameâs soundtrack is fairly small overall, but given that this is a short game anyway, itâs understandable.

Lasting Value
Most gamers are likely to get through Fancy Pants Adventures in around 20 minutes or so. Those who donât care about finding the hidden trophies and collecting all of the gameâs squiggles will cut that time by about five minutes. Still, despite its short length, Fancy Pants Adventures is so fun and pure in its concept that it invites subsequent playthroughs.

Fancy Pants Adventures â" Pure, Unadulterated Platforming
What Fancy Pants Adventures lacks in lasting value it more than makes up for in fun factor. Brad Borne and Armor Games have created a special game. Not only is Fancy Pants Adventures a no-nonsense platformer, itâs also the blueprint for something that can grow into a full-fledged franchise. Itâs so much fun that it would be hard not to urge gamers to play the already-released Fancy Pants Adventures: World 2 immediately after completing this game.

In many cases, simplicity can be harmful to a video game. In the case of Fancy Pants Adventures, however, itâs hard not to be won over by the blueprint formula of Brad Borneâs creative endeavor. Gamers will be hard pressed to find another 15-minute gaming experience thatâs as much fun as Fancy Pants Adventures.

Score: 9/10

Be Fancy!

Sorry about the quotation marks problem (just replace the weird symbols for the quotation marks)... and for the double post.
