Just thought I would show the world how we are quickly going to the crapper.

Thank God I'm English. We aren't as far gone yet I think. Where do they get their info? And if so many countries are in debt where is all this money coming from.

Census Records, I believe. If you move the mouse over a number box, it tells you what it means and where it came from.

And if so many countries are in debt where is all this money coming from.

Inflation, the fact that some countries aren't in debt, etc. Quite frankly, 14 trillion seems like a lot of money, but compared to all the money in the world, its really not that much.

---

I don't think anybody can deny theres a problem when your gross debt is 97.6% of your GDP. You can't even begin to justify this number. Its time that people abandon the notion that they are entitled to that big house, or that nice car, or what ever. We have to remove the notion that people can just spend money that they don't have, and not have any ramifications.

We also need to remove the idea that people can freeload off the government. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, as large contributors to our debt, need to be severly overhauled, if not removed. I find it rather hypocritical that a governing body that puts Bernie Madoff into jail for running a ponzi scheme is running a ponzi scheme itself. If anything, atleast give the Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to the states, rather than the Federal Government. It makes sense that those on the state level know how to deal with their own constituents better than those on the national level.

Actually, without such debt, you'd still have that nice car or that big house, or what ever. The government spending that has led to the debt is unjustified.

Well giving someone your money didn't cause the debt. That was the banks who lent money they didn't have to people who couldn't pay.

Again with the anti-american topics! You think Britain's safe? if America's in a hole of debt, Britain's in a pit! don't even get me started on Russia...

Anyway, the debt only increases due to inflation. I mean, bill gates could have payed off the US debt in the 1800's if he had a time machine. (that actually did happen; at one point a billionare donated his money to the US government to get it out of debt)

America's fine, and as long as if our GDP is the largest of any single nation, I think we're doing pretty good.

Oh, clock. I missed the L, like, eight times.

If you look on the world debt clock, the UK has bigger numbers than the US. Red numbers, too. I'm pretty sure that's bad. Somehow.

But his money would decrease in value since he has billions by today's money the same value would be like a million that long ago. And haven't you ever heard of interest.

And the UK must have better debt than America since it is smaller.

How does a countries size had anything to do with debt?

If America takes advantage of it's gazillion barrels of oil in the Gulf and Alaska, that alone could give our economy the boost it needs to pay it's debt.

BUT THE ANIMALS!

Anyways, the government's ridiculous spending is unjustifiable, and those who are abusing the welfare program are still complaining about the economy as they watch Oprah on their couch with a bag of popcorn.

People want things to get done but they don't want to do anything themselves to get it done. They just want others to do things for them.

Well, we aren't exactly in the position to stop global inflation or the U.S.'s increasing debt.

Why not exactly? It seems that you just say, oh well, nothing I can do. Better curl up and die so it is less painful.

Take initiative, become proactive, try to take down the walls of stupidity and lack of drive that surround you! Make a difference god **** it! And if you can't get together with other people and try to make a difference then. It is all how you view an issue that will drive you to either figure out a solution to the problem, or just like you become passive and give up.

That's not what I was saying. I was merely stating that none of us are in a position of power to annihilate global inflation. If it is possible, why haven't you done it already, Mr. Initiative? I'm all for standing up for what you believe in and making a difference in your community and nation.

Looking back on my post, I do see how that could be taken the way you did.

all how you view an issue that will drive you to either figure out a solution to the problem, or just like you become passive and give up.

Did I ever say there was no solution, that a plan could not be formed and steps taken to reduce the problem? No, I did not. I love how I make one comment and suddenly, I think there is no hope. You're pulling at very thin straws.

Clearly, you were just waiting for something to spark your insult tinged post. I'm sorry, but not everything has to be a heated debate or competition. Maybe next time you could ask if I meant one thing or another before you make assumptions and write an essay on how to make me a better person.

America logically has a bigger economy than England because it is much bigger. A bigger economy would have more debt.

I was recently in New York, and I saw the debt clock. It went up and up and up. It's sad.
