Dilbert is probably the only funny comic i have read in the papers but foxtrot was also really good. Calvin and hobs was really funny sometimes and far side is usually good.
Calvin & hobbes is definitely in the first place... It's just amazing how it alternates funny gags to incredibly deep and sad moments. However I like a lot of comics (and I still enjoy them, not just when I was a kid...) Strips: Calvin and hobbes, doonesbury, pearls before swine, Garfield, dilbert, get fuzzy, cul de sac Long stories: jacovitti (not very well known outside of Italy, I guess... but still one of the best I've ever seen), asterix, lucky luke, and Disney stuff (most of it is bad, but you can find some amazing stories and drawers if you know where to search)
