What was your favorite comic as a kid? I had three. These are it. Captain America, Sgt. Rock, and Star Wars.

I like The Far Side, and Dilbert was okay (I didn't actually read them a lot, but whatever)

I didnt read a lot of comics, except for Tintin and Asterix, and those were ok.

I used to read some GI:Joe and some Spiderman, but as I got older I REALLY enjoyed Calvin & Hobbes

Dilbert is probably the only funny comic i have read in the papers but foxtrot was also really good. Calvin and hobs was really funny sometimes and far side is usually good.

Now that I think about it, I think I forgot to add Calvin and Hobbes to my list.

I still read comics like Dilbert, xkcd, Mafalda... I also read all the Tintin series, and many more of the same style, of course in French

Oh yea, the far side is so awesome xD

Calvin & hobbes is definitely in the first place... It's just amazing how it alternates funny gags to incredibly deep and sad moments.
However I like a lot of comics (and I still enjoy them, not just when I was a kid...)
Strips: Calvin and hobbes, doonesbury, pearls before swine, Garfield, dilbert, get fuzzy, cul de sac
Long stories: jacovitti (not very well known outside of Italy, I guess... but still one of the best I've ever seen), asterix, lucky luke, and Disney stuff (most of it is bad, but you can find some amazing stories and drawers if you know where to search)
