I have a suggestion of users being able to vote in which a question on a topic is fully answered. so mods could save some time and know that a topic is tooken care of!

Moderators go through a lot of threads on AG everyday - so this idea isn't necessary. And if a thread is answered at a certain time and it isn't locked - it's likely that a Moderator isn't online.

Moderators also don't need to be told when a thread has to be locked - it's something they determine for themselves because they have good judgement. Unless you report to them, then they'll go check it out and see if it has to be locked.

so mods could save some time and know that a topic is tooken care of!

It doesn't save time, it's just something that could be easily abused then irritate the Moderators. It's easy and simple for them to go to a sub-forum then go through some threads rather than having a voting feature to see if a thread needs to be locked.

A bad suggestions - which I pointed out with valid points.

Of course I'm not a Moderators - you don't see any blue text or shiny title under my Armatar.

But go to a Moderators profile - read the description that's located under their Armatar. They choose whether to lock the thread or not. Having this feature is unnecessary.

Yes, I understand. But it won't really work because if users have this feature then you know that some will abuse it by using it on a lot of threads that don't even deserve to be locked.

I find it much simpler for the Moderators to just login then go through the sub-forums locking the threads that need to be locked or even users could report threads that need to be locked on a Moderators profile page.

I agree with GhostOfMatrix on this one. I think that it is good as it is.

I think that in the s&s the started on the thread should be able to lock it after he got the answer, that would reduce the "five-identical-answers-to-the-same-thread" kind of spam. But that's not going to happen I think, because cormyn said that they don't want to make one forum different from another.

Actually, I kind of like this idea, but we'd probably only allow the original poster to submit a thread to be locked, not a community vote.

It would be nice in the 'moderator interface' to have a notification from Topic Creator requesting their topic to be locked. It beats receiving 'social' messages for it.

Yes, that would be a better idea instead of letting anyone from the community vote on the thread.

I think that there could be threads that auto [necro] (get locked because they're really old). Basically, if threads don't get any responses in a while (unless pinned to the top) they would auto-lock. Before, there could be a warning icon that would alert users it would soon lock.

It depends on what time range you're using for 'really old'. Some threads that are two-three months old could be brought up by a really great post.

All further discussion needs to go into the forum thread, please.
