This topic is for the general discussion of the differences and similarities between Macs and PCs.

I personally think that Macs are better, despite their hard-to-navigate track-pad. Only one company makes their programs, allowing the computer to be faster.

PCs, on the other hand, are more prone to viruses.

Any ideas?

I prefer PC. I'm a gamer so I often find myself in need of customizing my rig. If I owned a Mac, I would have to buy a new one altogether, and Macs cost a lot as far as I know.

Furthermore, a good amount of my favourite games were made when Mac didn't even exist so I wouldn't be able to play them anymore.

I'll stick to my PC.

apart form playing games. macs are great for development and other things. except for people who enjoy doing development on a windows machine.

I have had 2 pc laptops totaling $1600 over the past 2 years. one new one for each year. both were HP's top of the line 13 inch but bot failed over a year. the processors and the processor fan burned out. i've had my mac for about 2 years. only thing so far is the battery, and I can easily change out the battery. the cost of the mac $1499 + tax. overall I think my mac will last me a bit longer. Plus if I wanted to sell those older HP computers I wouldn't get much for them. The mac, I know I would get at least $1000.

All in all its all about preference and what you can initially spend your money on. I can play Steam games on my mac.

just kidding.
In my opinion, Macs are easier to use and almost impossible to have viruses, but they cost more than pc's. I have a pc and it works pretty good, although...them Macs is lookin' pretty shexy o_O

I agree with this, but any computer you buy has a high chance of getting generic parts like fans, batteries, etc. A custom built PC is the way to go I think.

Mac doesn't come with any drawing tools pre installed.

I know that, but Macs have drawing tools that PCs don't have. She showed me the place where she downloaded it and it's only for a Mac.

Next time she gets on CT I'll ask her. I don't remember the name of the program.

How is it hard to navigate? It's so simple.

Only one company makes their programs, allowing the computer to be faster.

Not true! Hundreds of companies make Mac OS supported applications.

I prefer the PC setup, design and style, but I use Mac's at my school and they have lots because they are cheaper. That right there is a bonus, but I am still a PC fan.

Hmm...

Extremely expensive computer that really only has 2 values, doesn't get viruses and can play music well...

or, cheaper computer that runs just as well if not better, has a more common sense layout, can get viruses but that is easily avoidable.

Apple products suck for everything except playing music, really. Every time i've used a Mac, they've been slower, had programs hidden in strange places, 1 button mouses which really suck, and costed 2 times as much as my laptop that runs way better.
