Hello AG community! This Paarfam speaking, and I'd like to introduce you to the...

I'd like a car that runs on something other than gas, that doesn't look like it was made for a 33 year old mother and can perform just as well with one on gas.
Then I'd have loads of money in my pocketz and I'd rule the roads and no foreign energy dependence and then win.

This seems like it would be better in the Tavern along side the General Science Discussion thread.

Anyway love the topic theme.

My little imaginary World of Tomorrow.

We develop financially feasible Solar collectors along with antimatter reactors as main sources of power. These devices are deployed on space craft to power an artificial magnetosphere shield generator (AMS Generator) protecting humans from the effects of radiation in space.

Space stations using centrifugal force to generate artificial gravity and the shielding make working in outer space safer and more feasible and allows further research and development into living off world. Private businesses deploy their own "space hotels" using this technology and catering to the rich.

It help alleviate the strain of over population on the planet the first arcology (the X-Seed 4000) is built off of Tokyo's shore. Following this other floating cities are constructed of the shores of other major cities.

All of these advancements culminate into the development of the first space habitat, where several thousand people work and live.

Thanks to the advancements in solar collectors a reliable solar sail is built. This along with the cheaper forms of energy used at this point makes space travel very economical allowing for things like hazardous waste management and mining to be done off world. increasing our resources and creating a safer means of waste management.

Advancements in computers allow for self driven cars using voice interface and GPS to take a passenger to their destination rather then people having to manually control the car. People would still be able to drive themselves if they like, but thanks to the advancements, the computers controlled cars can predict and react to such anomalies.

This would also allow for androids to function efficiently in an almost Asimovian manner. Fill the roll of many basic grunt jobs.

interesting ideas, a few thing would be needed to ironed out i guess but im no scientist how far in the future do you see this happening

Well if we get much better at cloning and decide to bring back Dinosaurs it will probably result in something along the lines of Jurassic Park.

That movie is my reason for being against the revival of extinct animals, we should just stick with keeping what's already here alive.

Ideally I would give it the next 100 years.

Given the lack of a viable source to work from cloned Dinosaurs are unlikely. However the perfection of our ability to create artificial lifeforms could yield this. The result would likely be closer to what we see in Jurassic Park as well, given they were idealized versions of dinosaurs.

We can clone mammoths and all we really need is just a bit of preserved tissue to clone with.

Yes but with Dinosaurs we don't even have that. The best we had was a bit of soft material extracted from a bone, but it didn't contain viable genetic material for cloning. Even under ideal circumstances.

I know but there is a possibility of finding a preserved sample however unlikely that may be. I was just stating that it was a scary idea (I highly doubt it will happen) but is interesting to think about. We could definitely learn a lot from doing so.

Yeah it would require finding one viable cell, the best we have found are only fragments of DNA. I still think it would be more likely to create them from scratch, maybe using the few scraps of DNA we have found as a base template.

This is really a good topic.
Look good and bad are always there in the world. But what really will change in the tomorrow is the Time, which will be very limited to do a huge cumbersome work. As the people are becoming multitasking, the burdens in the life has increased. People will also become more devotional in the future, the crime rates will go low, as there is a lot of learning going on these days about how to live a life successfully.

In the world of tomorrow it will be the same as today. If you mean future in general I'd say that I'd probably be dead before anything major happened.

You might be surprised. Just 20 years time cell phones and internet access have become common place. Flatscreens have become common place in just 10 years. It's only been about 10 years since computer storage were commonly in the gigabyte range and we are even now moving past this range as the standard. It's only been about 6 years since flash drives were common place and in that time their capacity has increased 100 fold.

Something to keep in mind for this thread.
