I don't think they understand probability. Or you know - in its own way its attention-seeking. Imagine if you are talking to your sister about something as the lottery begins - the first time you bother look at it for more than 3 seconds. Bam! Your date of birth!
*Gasps* Miracle! No but seriously I see different stories of people who have a small line of fortunate or coincidental events unfold related to them in one form or another and therefore must be religion. It seems much like deception to your own memory.
Yep, our memories are flawed. Very flawed :<
Which is why I break something down and take in a sentence of information that rounds up 3 pages of work. Woot!
Well, first, there was this thing with the Piraha tribe, which is atheistic and has no religion. So yes, there are a lot of superstitious humans, but I would not say that it is in everyone's nature per se.
Secondly, saying that "religious belief" is "human nature" is exaggerated and likely inaccurate. Why exaggerated? Because it is not religious belief per se, but simply superstition, that is widely spread in human culture. Religion is only the most frequent result, but it is wrong to say it is in human nature. Why likely inaccurate? Because the way it is written suggest it only exists in humans; yet I'm sure there are similar behaviours in other animals (a good example in my opinion, is still the experiments of Skinner with the Skinner box, even though his explanations are debated and maybe not accurate either).
Well of cause it's going to be human nature if god wants us to believe in him.
Well this might be a point if there weren't atheists and rational people who need logic and proof and god hadn't got rid of all logical reasons and proof for his existence.
i do believe Religious Belief is Human Nature. for example, when you accidentally fall from an aeroplane at the height of 1000 metres, having no parachute, and logics are against you, you would most probably say, "god, save me!" or "god, if you're exist, save me!', 'i hope any miracle, ANYTHING will save me!'. and during seconds before impact, one will still hope that he will be saved.

Sure, one will hope to survive, this is instinct. But what we think exactly depends on how we were raised, we don't naturally say "god please help". Prayer is not natural, and sayings like "oh god" or "oh my god" are simply linguistic relics. We say so because we are used to. People pray in such situations because they are used to. But I for example would not suddenly start to believe if I would be falling off a plane.
Like I said, religion is NOT human nature; superstition is.
