Ghaddafi has been oppressing his country for years. Then, a few months ago, a few rebels made a stand. When he forcefully shut them down, had he sealed his fate by making a scene? When word spread farther the uprising began. Soon, poorly trained and sparsely armed rebels controled half of Libya. Misrata became a scene like that of the American Revolution: unskilled, untrained, lightly armed, rebellious, and fed-up militia citizens using modern geurilla warfare to fight a powerful military country. With the world's eye's coldly staring as hundreds of civilians died with partial intention at the hands of Ghaddafi's miltiary might. After cries for help, NATO agreed to assist in the form of airstrikes. As time days passed, the airstrikes increased. Week by week they became more intense until a compound, occupied by some of Ghaddafi's family members (including his son), was severely damaged with lethal consequences. Muammar was quick to cut off supplies to Misrata, one of the ways was to place underwater mine the port. Shortly after the near crippling shift in the extended stalemate, Britain agreed to supply the rebels with police gear. After a few weeks, the tides began to turn. As the the rebels gained experience, support from other countries and civilians enraged at the shelling of residential neighborhoods, they began to expand from their western hold. Now, with Obama's support and the malicious ferocity of America on their side, is this the end of Muammar Ghaddafi's 42 year reign in Libya finally at the mercy of the unforgiving superpowers?

Please continue to add to this epic story, as well as your opinon, as it unfolds.

Ghaddafi is a megalomaniac imo. He will die before capitulating because he believes his people love him and everyone else is out to get him. Its neurotic to the most danderous extreme. I hope his people don`t suffer too much until the end. Though its bad, it the situation could be much worse for the Libyan people and I believe that things will end well, meaning the people will get a country they will have the chance to rule for themselves in the way they wish.

My fear is that before this happens, many, many more people will die in an extended fight.

My thoughts are with the people of Libya.

Cheers!

Ghaddafi has just recently launched his most forcful attack in decades. A former high-ranking commander considers Moammar a trrorist. The rebel known as Haji Usama said he used 150 infantry men and over 40 vehicles both armed with GRAD rocket launchers and heavy fire machine guns. The former comander stated that he's never sen force of such magnitude while working with Ghaddafi's army. This is a major shift in the not declared war. With Ghaddafi using new, direct offensive tactics, it is clears of his intentions. He launched three major attacks on the rebels simultaneously causing Haji to lose contact with other rebel forces. However, he has not lost confidence or hope, saying he plans to couner the attack. Even so, one of the coordinated attacks consisted of hundreds of infantry forces. Yet, the rebels have the advantage and their numbers are rapidly growing. The newest members of rebel forces have yet to graduate from high school. School age rebels have been seen in high numbers using hunting rifles and bolt-action shotguns. http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/05/21/libya.zintan/

Ghaddafi has lost. No question about it. It is him versus the world and I'm pretty sure he can't take the world. The matter is about time. How much time will it take for him to know he has lost. How many people can he kill in that time? I think this guy ranks four right under Saddam Hussien and he could be worse because the rest of the world are just watching him kill innocent civilians and rebels.

Well, I think he's had it now. He's starting to pull out what he can. I'm not sure he'll win, but he'll sure as heck take out a lot of people!

What really gets me upset is that no one knows how to consistently spell Gaddafi's name! It's like a Libyan version of the word Hannukah! (or is it Channuka, Channukah, Hannuka, etc.)
