very interesting book that I agree with, anyone who knows anything about 1950's rock and roll more than just the usual "elvis" crap would agree with this.
They turned it from music that black people, white people, men and women were putting so much work into,
and turned it into pretty much white kids and later on hippies.
Im not going to say they were bad artists, but the Beatles ruined what rock and roll was supposed to become.

Wanna know my thoughts?
Your Rock n' Roll would be rap without the Beatles. So the author of that book can go (*^@*!^%#^E!^@%E()*@# Up his litte $%^@()#*$^!@ and then (&W%*W($&!@)%&^#()$.

The Beatles weren't light rock when they came out. They were ROCK. Not Rock n' Roll like it is now, but they were Rock. No roll.
My best guess is this is some little ignorant buttface that doesn't seem to realize any type of underlying message in their songs.

Sorry for the double post...
But I Googled this man. His works, are all about African American culture. I'm not racist at all, I happen to love R&B and rap and all that jazz, but this man, trying to blame THE BEATLES, for the 'downfall' of Rock N' Roll... What the hell? They revolutionized the music industry as it is now, allowing hella more alternatives to just African American and the Oldies.

The Beatles weren't light rock when they came out. They were ROCK

yeah i only like their early stuff, they were largely influenced by Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent, people say if it wasn't for those two going to London for concerts all the time there would have been no Beatles, or rolling stones.
Eddie Cochran was a great musician himself. to bad he had to die so young, elvis is nothing compared to that guy

Rock has evolved so much dude. and it wasnt just the beatles. the doors, jimmy hendrix, the rolling stones, and many more did the same thing with the beatles.

rock has gone from being for strictly black people with nothing but horns and drums, to hippie rock, to prog rock, to metal, now theres rap and hip hop and stuff. rock has branched off so much that some sub genres of rock dont even sound the same at all. but believe it or not, fats domino, dimmu borgir, and grand master flash and the furious five, are ALL in the same genre, and that is rock.

so to say that the beatles ruined what rock was supposed to be, is just stupid in my oppinion

Okay, I was being sarcastic. Not to mention, I don't really know of any blacks who listen to Taylor Swift :P

But if you want to listen to whatever the **** rock was before the beatles, be my guest. You talk as if there was this huge talent bank before the beatles or something and they all left afterwards.

Actually rock was and still is for pretty much anyone and you should look up people like Eddie Cochran or some other 50's rock and you'd see its more than just black people banging on drums and farting in horns, like it was ever that anyways.

There was huge talent before the beatles, the beatles and rolling stones and jimi hendrix and led zeplin would be no where without the artists who made rock and roll and pioneered it, and i never said the beatles and all those after were poor musicians

im talking about back to the 40's dude, when rock first originated. and i dont think it was bad back then either. rock has always been and always will be the strongest genre out there

dont listen to him, hes dumb. and yeah i think any person who really does know about music wouldnt deny their influences. but that doesnt mean the beatles "ruined" rock. they just brought it to a different light. the british invasion really changed rock forever

Yeah the artists of the 50's are really underrated by the general public, idk why they aren't classified as "classic rock" like 60s and 70s artists are. I've always loved 50s rock so much more

The british invasion brought rock to a international level though. thats why people look to the 60's and 70's more

Its kinda the same with Jazz, in the late 40's it started turning to bebop jazz and the stuff that is in my opinion boring and when artsy fartsy people touch music they ruin it.
And you look at the Jazz of the 1920's 30's and early 40's, all that Dixieland Jazz, Chicago Jazz, Big band and swing. You can't compare bebop and that artsy stuff to that good stuff, Jazz was meant to be wild fun and stuff you can dance too.
