How does it affect you? Would you treat someone the same if they had a different age then expected? Personally age doesn't matter too much to me. In any type of relationship the main idea is to relate. If we can understand each other and relate you age probably doesn't matter too much to me.

It matters for me, yes.
I would rather to talk to someone my age over a 10 year old, simple because of the maturity, plus they probably won't understand my jokes. C:
However, I wouldn't judge somone on their age over the internet, but their maturity level.

In real life, all of my friends are in my grade.

On here, however, people on my friends list can, and are, much older than me.

Probably because:

If I'm going to date someone then I look for women my age, or two years older or younger than me.

Well i have a small theory of why years seem to pass faster as life goes on. When you are 5 years old, that year is 1/5 of your life. When you are 10 years old, that year is 1/10 of your life. When you are 15 its 1/15, 20 is 1/20, ect. So its basically feels like its a smaller portion of your life because it is, compared to the rest of your life.

If someone tells me their age at a place, like the mall. Then I see them another day telling that their age is something else. Then yes, that would bother me. Don't get why you would lie about your age.

Because if you tell someone you are 12, they regard you as a child. If you tell someone you are 15, they regard you as a young adult. There is respect to be gained with age.

I respect people more when they are truthful about their age. If you lie about it, then you get no respect.

Well people who lie about their age don't think they will get caught for lying.

I treat those the same that are between the ages of 18 to maybe 65, but children/teens I treat differently and seniors differently.

I don't think age should really matter that much. A valid opinion/idea is a valid opinion/idea, who cares if it came from a 65 year old professor or a 8 year old kid, if it's right? That's one reason I like the internet, when I was younger i'd get looked down on in school/in general because I was just a kid, what did I know? But on the internet, most people assumed I was 20 or somewhere around that (Funny how the max age people seem to guess others at on the internet is never over 30)

@Kasic

If you are told someone's age before you get an impression of them, then you usually get a different idea of them.

Yes I know that, but you still don't have to act on anything other than what you find from interacting with them. I often have seen someone and judged them initially based on their appearance/gestures, but I don't act on anything other than how they respond to me, even if inwardly I think they are a moron or young, etc.

i dont mind the age of someone. if id chat with someone and discover they are like... 11 or younger then id probably try to use easier words (wont be hard for me XD) i really dont think age matters that much. i remember on chats, people kept thinking im much younger then i really am

QFT. When you're working in a steady job, a year passes in the blink of an eye.

Then you're forty and you wake up going "holy crap what the hell just happened?"
