I truly wonder how many Christians know about their religion and its beginnings. Please fill in anything I leave out.
Christianity was founded in the days after Jesus Christ's death and what is thought to be his resurrection. They were persecuted throughout Rome, until one of the emperors made it the official religion of the Roman Empire. In 254 (I think), a council was held during which Jesus Christ was ELECTED by popular vote to be the son of God. Also, a ton of the Gospels were thrown out, including those which gave details about Jesus's wife. They then put this book together into what we now know today as the Bible. Then the pope was created, the Roman Empire split, and then the Greek Orthodox Church was created.
Honestly, please tell me if you are Christian and didn't know the part about Jesus being elected to be the Son of God.

This change happened because of a war. They were losing under the banner of the typical god that would be invoked. So the Christian was invoked and they turned the loss into a win and took this as a sign that the Christian God was true.
