I'm issuing a challenge to all theists out there, can your prove your religion. And I don't mean something like there must have been someone to make the big bang, I mean something that proves yours over all the others.

And if you come out with loads of miracles I have a second question, why does god supposedly prove himself in this way but not in a better way. If these miracles prove he exists why doesn't he do loads more that can't be argued against?

I have to say, even as a staunch atheist, that this feels like a pretty conceded request.

I wouldn't want to. To me my belife is right but to other's I'm wrong and they're right. I think what I belive in is right not better. When you say something of yours is better then someone else's, it eventually turn ugly because it implies that you're better then them. everybody is born equal.

Born equal but they don't turn out equal eventually. That, and he didn't say "better" or try and make this a "Memememmememe mine's better!" contest,

Sorry huge submit fail. Basically it's a "Proof of a religion", like in the thread name. If you can PROVE it, it is definitely better than other religions. <3

But logically, if you follow a religion you believe that that religion is right. And therefore it is better than all the other religions. And since every other religion is a lie and yours is not then logically you should have a reason to believe your religion over all the other ones. And this reason should be clear to everyone else as logical. How else do people get converted?

i half agree. people dont think their religion is the best (well not all of them). for example, i believe in judaism, but i know that it is just a theory. i think it is te right theory but i have an open mind to all other theories.

anyway for the proof part:

i wouldnt call it a proof since someone will probably counter it with something. im just posting this to give something interesting to talk about and i will not go further to check everything about it.

anyway:
in judaism the last name cohen is a hly name. scientists decided to check if there is anything related to that last name and the people who bare it. they took many people from different places with that last name or a last name that has a connection to that name and they found out that people with that last name have a special gene that is not found in other people. they also found out that everytime that gene passes it changes alittle bit. they somehow managed to find away to find out how much that gene changes in every generation and they wanted to check in what time period that gene had no change (in other words the first person who was a cohen). after the calculated they got to the same time period the tanah (jewish bible) sais the first cohen existed.

anyway i only see this as something interesting to think about and im not going to say why this is right or wrong since i dont know alot about this either. you should just look for it on the web if your interested. what i like about this is that they managed to find a connection between the bible time period and the present with science.

i hope i managed to explain everything in a clear way in english.

It's the question we've been asking all along, this as a topic just seems more direct. On that note i don't see why qwerty would expect the answers to be any different.

How else do people get converted?

Emotional blackmail, childhood indoctrination, subjective experiences and a lack of critical thinking, instinctual hijacking...

In short logic often plays little to no roll at all.

I think this is what your talking about.

Here is a question that constantly boggled my mind about christianity.

If you have to worship god and jesus in order to go to heaven, what happened to all the people who died before the birth of jesus?
Were they all condemned to ****ation?
Were they all exceptions?

Remember, we are talking millions upon millions of people.

The answer will vary greatly. Some think they get new bodies and everyone get's judged yesterday. Some think if you haven't heard you basically get a "Get into heaven free card". Others think it's just merit based, determined solely on one's actions.

i personally think actions and intentions are the things that determine where your going (if there is a place like that of course)

I've tried in the past. I've explained why I believe many a time. People are stubborn. E1337, H, MageGray, Kasic, you guys get off of me for enough time for me to make this statement: I'd rather take the safe route. It's a leap, but if there is a God, then at least I'll be safe. I find a balance of atheistic and Catholic beliefs though. I'd rather be a coward for ninety years instead of being a hero for 90 years and getting the eternal torture treatment.

This is a pointless thread. We already have numerous other religious threads, and have even had several dedicated to 'roving' a particular religion or deity. Guess what... there is no proof. None. At least, nothing which counts as scientific proof. It's all personal opinion, hearsay, speculation, assumption, guesswork, and tradition. That's it.
