I think they're pretty mediocre, but I'm not into that style of music. Also, they've had a couple lawsuits thrown at them in the past few years for plagiarism and have settled outside of court (which is a pretty strong indicator that they knew they would lose the case). Viva La Vida was one of those songs.

it was because brian eno did alot of the music on that album, and they didnt put his name on the album for credential purposes, it was all resolved.
im personally a huge coldplay fan.the lyrics are FANTASTICALLY written. my favorite song would either be the scientist, yellow, speed of sound, or lost.
I think Coldplay's a fantastic band, regardless of what is said against them. As a matter of fact, it's one of my favorite band. While some bands may be better, Coldplay have set up a standard they respect most of the time. You know why I love them so much; because I can listen to all of their albums without having the urge to ''skip'' at a moment or another. Good lyrics, awesome singer, nice instrumentals; you really shouldn't say that Coldplay's overrated, and besides, who can say Chris is not a talented vocal artist?
They have some pretty awesome music videos: Talk, Don't Panic, and Life in Technicolor ii are all awesome. My favorite songs would have to be: Lost, Swallowed in the Sea, What If?, Fix You, Don't Panic, and Violet Hill. I also aggree with everything Fallen says.

Plus, the song is pretty good, the instrumental part at the beginning makes me think of MM each and every time.
