Got this game, Stalker: Call of Pripyat, as a free steam code when Overclockers UK messed me around for a month and Im trying to get into it, I really am! But so far Im finding it very difficult and it doesnt help that I didnt really like the first Stalker and couldnt finish it.
So just got my first Artefact. Gives +2 Health and +2 Radiation. I would eventually die from radiation poisoning if I held onto this rather useless Artefact. Is it only good for money at this stage and does this change a bit later into the game? Do you get radiation immunity? Or just better Rad Protection that will actually negate small radiation effects?
Does it even out soon cos Im holding on by the skin of my teeth with this game and Im quite close to cheating my butt off.
People here have no taste in video games, so don't expect anyone to have played it. But yeah I played it.
When you get artifacts like that, just sell it. They are useless. Usually early in S.T.A.K.E.R games the game is boring. Just keep on going and you'll get into it. Since you're starting out I take it you don't have very good weapons, once you get your hands on good ones, the game is fun. Also, lower the difficulty in the options, that's what I did when I first started out.
Be sure to check your map for stash locations so you can grab some loot, always always always grab artifacts no matter what they are cuz they sell for a lot of money. Save up your cash and buy a good suit and grab a NATO firearm. Those are much better than the Warsaw/Russian weapons (AK, Fort-12, Abokan .etc)
One more thing, Spetsnaz weapons like the AS VAL and the OTS-14 Groza are very good. Their ammo is rare but they are deadly. And the FN2000 is the best assault rifle in the game, if you find one, you're one lucky mofo.
Aim for the head - that's the most important tip right there. It saves ammo and drops people way faster.
Cheers dude, I will be on the look out for that assault rifle. So far I have settled on a Pump action and the IL86, love the single shot with the scope and like you say, pop em in da head, they drop fast.
One thing has just happened tho that prompted me to come in. An artifact that negates radiation. So I have one that take -3 and one that takes -2, but sadly only 2 slots right now for equipping but it means I can take, what I would say it, a level 3 artifact. I have the -3 rad and an artifact that gives +3 rad and +12kg carrying capacity.
So this game is starting to become fun, and for anyone with a lil bit of patience and likes long term rewards I would highly suggest Stalker:CoP, its deffo better than the 1st one.
