I believe the movies made today aren't exactly as anticipating as back then such as ''The Hunt for Red October'', or'' Rocky'' Yet some new ones can still be good like the Marvel or D.C flicks like ''The Green Lantern'', or ''Batman ,the Dark Knight'' I will accept comments that are relative to the subject,as long as they aren't hate mongering
I don't think it will be good to compare them. They are of different times and different generations loved them. So it really depends person to person. If i talk about myself then i loved both the movies.
Lets take a look at Star Wars, Episodes 4-6. The first movie made my dad a "nerd." It left on him a lasting impression. On the other hand, he loathes episodes 1-3. He thinks they ruined Darth Vader. I've only seen episode 1, and 4-6, but his impression of Anakin Skywalker (spelling?) probably sums it up.
There is a similar trend in video games, but this is not the place to discuss it.
