What are your favorite anime movies? I've been watching some movies recently, and now, I already watched all movies I have. After watching The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, I loved it, and I want to watch Anime Movies for a change (not like I haven't been watching them before though!)

Please share, so I can buy and watch.

You should watch some Studio Ghibli films, if you haven't already, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle in particular are masterpieces. I say that, though, without knowing what you're particularly into. Could you expand a little on what type of anime movie you like?

Spirited away is a great movie to start off with.

My all time favourite is the grave of fireflies.

"An anime based entirely on flashbacks? Just how good could it possibly be? Well, I am here to tell you that it can be a great way to do things if the story and the characters are strong enough to pull it off. With Grave of FireFlies, we are able to see both aspects, as we follow the life of main character Seita through a series of flashbacks. The film actually starts with his death, so you aren't really sure what to expect, but by the end of the film you truly see how tragic his death was. The movie takes place in Japan near the end of WWII, and centers around Seita and his sister Setsuko. Orphaned in a flashback, we watch as the siblings must traverse through a war-torn country, doing anything they can to possibly survive. But, we know in the end that at least one of them won't. This is a beautifully crafter, character driven story, that is tough to watch, yet leaves a big impact when you have reached its conclusion. It's no surprise that it garnered many awards."

Spirited Away is the only one I've seen that I can really remember...

Like others who posted before me, I also enjoyed Spirited Away. Even though I think who ever made it might have been high, it was a very well made film. It was very "unique" to put it simple.

seeing as ghibli has already been mentioned, i'll vouch for anything studio gainax. for all your random 'AWESOME', ' INSANE', and 'WHAT THE CRAP!?' needs.

also just watched the Samurai Champloo series. hilarious. and somehow gets away with being 80% filler by virtue of being so funny.

I don't really get into Anime movies as much as I do series. But Moving Castle, Spirited Way, and anything else that guy makes. (He did Ponyo, right?)... That guy is like the Pixar of Anime.

any hayao miyazaki film is great, ponyo is a little too childish but still fun to watch. nausicaa, spirited away, kiki's delivery service, howl's moving castle, castle in the sky, totoro.

and i think there was another thread like this.

I haven't seen too many movies. I do plan on watching 5 centimeters per second and The Voices of a Distant Star (might be an OVA I'm not sure). Both are supposed tear jerkers so I'll let you know how they go.
