I love the weather and have always been interested in it. To me, the creation of incredible storms and the patterns of heat, wind, fronts, and pressure systems in absolutely incredible, especially since many of these things still baffle humans!
I want to know: does anybody share my interest? Any other weather buffs out there? Or, some interesting story or fact about the weather?
There are storms all over Iowa right now! I'm pretty sure almost everywhere in the state has been hit, except where I live! All the storms headed toward me died out...
Well I just finished fixing my grandmothers sidewalk after the last storm and another storm rolled in. It was worse made a tree fall down on the road, made my basement flood and made my grandmothers basement flood. Also the power went out four 3 hrs

I bet your city has turned on the 'Storm Thrower Awayer' and the storm died.

Ooooo that really sucks. What did you do in that period of time when the power died?
These are a few of your favorite things... Couldn't resist, sorry. :P

Tell me about it. :/ I think one of the meteorologists in my area said something about a "heat island". The heat generated from a large city (which I reside about ten miles from) can be strong enough to weaken or deter storms. It angers me to no end! D:<
It's getting quite dark overhead here and to the north, but the skies still contain patches of blue in the south. Holy crap this cloud is large. If I knew how to upload a picture I would. The wind is picking up a lot (I'd guess 20, weatherbug says 15, 19, 10, 8, 15...); it was very calm earlier. It just started raining some (not a lot of little drops but just a few big ones) as I was typing this. Thunder and lightning is starting as I'm typing, but it's distant and faint. The blue in the south is being covered quite quickly. I'm about to get pounded by this storm. The rain picked up a lot while I was making that link: it's now pouring. As I typed that line the rain got heavier (the drops splash at least 3" up when they hit the ground); I can see patches of smoke-like fog blowing across my neighbor's rooftop. It's starting to rain less now, like a typical light rain. There's total cloud cover now. The thunder and lightning seems to have stopped for now. That fog is gone now. It's raining heavier again now, but not quite as heavy as when it was pouring (when it hits it splashes up about 1.5". Another less-distant crack of thunder. The rain is now moderately falling (splashing up about 1".
The rain has almost stopped now. I must be in that little opening (go to the top left corner of the lake in the middle of the state [Winnebago] and straight up). So the calm won't last long. Seeing that massive patch of green north of the opening means it will rain all night.
I had a similar weather yesterday. All day the weather was uncertain. I was studying in a place where I couldn't observe the sky but there was blue sky from time to time, I even had a bit of sunlight. In the evening I went to have a beer with two friends just somewhere nearby; there was a big dark cloud all above us, but we saw spots of blue sky on the border. Suddenly it started raining, we changed to a covered table, and seconds later it started pouring heavily. It weakened once or twice only to start over again. I'm sure it went for about half an hour, there was no lightning or thunder though.
The rain has stopped completely. The wind is very low (about 5mph). It's very bright out. Still cloudy. It's quiet, too quiet. Seriously calm out. So calm it's scary.
Hmmmm... it seems that the wind changed to straight east and that giant storm won't hit me. Yay and ugh at the same time. Good that I won't be kept up all night, bad that I won't see the awesomeness.
Sounds like a very interesting storm, Emperor! I wish it would rain here... It's just hot and humid all the time. The grass is all brown and the humidity makes it feel like you're wearing three sweatshirts all the time...
Don't you love when the weather fools with you, HahiHa? ;D
Well, in other news, we're under yet another Heat Advisory here until 7 PM CDT tomorrow... Ugh. But, the highs go down to the lower 80's next week! That's incredible! Unheard of!
The chances of storms are spotty; I doubt we'll even get hit...
