I love the weather and have always been interested in it. To me, the creation of incredible storms and the patterns of heat, wind, fronts, and pressure systems in absolutely incredible, especially since many of these things still baffle humans!
I want to know: does anybody share my interest? Any other weather buffs out there? Or, some interesting story or fact about the weather?
It's interesting but I didn't bother trying to understand the whole thing in 6th grade. Right now it raining which is pretty common in the months of August and September here in south Florida. At least its not super hot like it regularly is. But some of the storms are interfearing with soccer tryouts so that's not too good. But the weather is the weather!
Yknow, minus the storms etc in America, has anybody noticed the total decrease in temperature? It has got unusually freezing for August >.>
I'm not noticing that, considering it has been above 90 F here for the past few days (average = 80 F). xD

Ah, yes. You have afternoon pop-up storms almost regularly, right? That would be awesome. :P --------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay everybody, there are TWO tropical systems to watch:
Lee is expected to make landfall tomorrow or Sunday evening. It's winds will not be the primary threat; rather, the torrential rain it will drop. It is very slow moving (only about 2mph at the moment), and has to potential to produce deluges and even some tornadoes.
At first, Katia appeared as if it would not affect land, but now the potential for it to do so has become more apparent. It is too early to determine much now, but this is a storm to watch over the next couple days.
I don't understand my weather, all last week it was under seventy degrees, but for these past two days it was around ninety degrees. Far too hot for me to do much outside.
A huge storm knocked out my electricity early yesterday (and another 30000 homes lost power too). I was out shoe shopping with my parents. The radio in the store said the storm was about 20 minutes away, but it was really dark out, so we went home (which was less than a mile away). We got in the car and it started raining heavily. We got to a stoplight and the gust front hit. The car tilted a bit (75mph winds were reported). We had to drive into the wind. There was a dense fog caused by the rain so visibility was >10ft. We got home and the power was out. It just came back an hour ago, but some will be without power until late Monday.
Eh... so far no signs of astounding heat. It's cold yet, but I bet next week the weather will get warmer.
That's right! It'll be odd for you, hearing mostly everyone here talk about the weather getting colder while yours gets warmer! How is it so far?

Watch out, those cold fronts and high pressure zones will do that! An easy way to tell how a day will be is to look at the winds. Winds from the south indicate a warmer day...
Its 110 for me right now
Oof. That stinks. I hate heat that intense...
Really? So another one might hit me? Well isn't that just great.
That's the spirit! Keep up the enthusiasm!

Wow. That's an amazing story. 75mph winds, you say? I'm going to have to check the NWS report for that storm to see what damage reports there were...
The stationary front that was over the northern part of Iowa yesterday drooped southward over the day today, so I got some nice thundershowers. The front is gone now, and it is almost chilly. The north winds are really bringing down the temps.
Yep that's it. I've got 2 large maple trees (not thin ones either, about 2ft diameter, 40ft tall) in my front yard. One lost a few large branches from the top and the other lost one of the main branches where it diverges into a Y shape. so I was busy all day sawing and dragging limbs to the curb for the city service to pick up. The only problem is they don't send the service until like the 4th Tuesday of the month or something, so my ditch is filled with branches.

That stinks. I remember going around town picking up limbs after the two tornadoes a few years ago. It's crazy how much of a mess trees can turn into, despite their stable appearance.
It's nice and enjoyable. Sun shined during the whole day today AND yesterday. The wind kept the temperature in a "lovely" level.
Sounds nice! My weather is supposed to be just like that for the next five days or so.
