If you want fantasy... I would agree that the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisngr) a great books to read if you haven't already read them. Also, The Spiderwick Chronicles are good too. Nice n' short, but also a great story.
I strongly suggest The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It is a ten novel series, each novel averages about 1000 pages. It sets a new standard for fantasy. Most works pale in comparison to this series, not only in size, but in depth and meaning. I warn you though, it isn't a light read and it makes you work for it.
Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie is an amazing book, it's set in a place called Styria and based on medieval times(sort of). The story line is brilliant and the characters are all introduced in a unique fashion and are all interesting in their own way. I gave it about a 9/10.
I'm surprised no one said Percy Jackson, btw, it is the best book ever. Or you may want to try Magyk. Or maybe Redwall, though it's kinda childish, but really good. Or maybe the Sword of Truth series, though they are very long.
"Be More Chill"_Ned Vizinni, quite frankly the funniest thing i have read in my life..... 200+ pages, i read it 2 times in 1 week..... honestly, i loved the book so much i stole it from ma school..... kids, dont be like Endscape.
My favorite Fantasy series ever is The Sword of Truth Series, with 11 books each averaging at least 800 pages, a small 200-300 page short book, and another long one on the way, it's very detailed and well written, very interesting and will take you some time to read through them all.
