(Alright, i think this is the right section, because a computer game IS a video game.)
I recently bought Half life 2, and garry's mod from steam. I ran half life 2 and it ran perfectly fine. Then i started up garry's mod (10) and it shows the loading screen(the guy with the whatchamacallit gun(im not far on half life, so i dont know what its called)) suddenly, the screen goes black, goes to a qaurter the size of my screen and i can see my desktop in the uncovered parts. Then it says "hl2.exe has stoped working" then it says something about finding a solution and gives me the option to close program(no other option). I tried again around 5 times and it does the same thing. I have already turned my computer off and back on and tried again. I also uninstalled and reinstalled. I looked it up on google and all the other people with this problem do one of the 2 things i did and its fixed for them. I am pretty certian my computer has the nessisary "capacity" to run it, as i looked up what i needed at the least and what i have surpasses it. Anyone have an idea for a solution to my problem?

>>Right click "Computer" >>Click "Manage" >>Double click "Users and Groups" >>Click "Groups" >>Right click "Administrators" >>Click "Add to group..." >>Click "Add" >>Click "Advanced" >>Click "Find Now" >>Double click "Local Service" >>Click "Ok" >>"NT Authority\\Local Service" should show up in the list now >>Click "Ok" >>Close Computer Management and reboot. ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- For users with the Home editions of Vista:
Go to the command prompt (hit run and type in cmd.exe) and type this in:
net localgroup Administrators /add Local Service
then you can type this in:
net localgroup Administrators
and if LOCAL NT AUTHORITY/SERVICE is listed, then it worked. Now go reboot.

alright, it tried it, found the comand prompt, and did what you said. It still doesnt work.
Can't help you then. Have you tried Administrator Mode? You didn't pirate the game, you didn't pirate HL2? If you pirated anything, it won't work, but I've never had your problem, so I don't know what to say. Look it up.
