Christ man! Yes, Fallout 3 is the better post-apocalyptic RPG, but there are better reasons!
got a long campaign
Yes Fallout 3 has a long campaign, and yes, Borderlands has a long campaign as well. Fallout 3 fills it with a larger world, quests, and dungeons. Borderlands is more questing oriented, with a large amount of side quests to complete to get guns and get money to buy guns. Overall, the longer experience will go to Fallout 3 over the course of ONE campaign. Borderlands is built to be a multi-playthrough multiplayer game - adding a huge amount of time one will have with their character.
One other thing - the level cap. Fallout 3's goes to 30. Borderland's goes to SIXTY NINE. Humorous, and higher!
different suits and armor
you've got Borderlands there, but not quite. Borderlands lets you customize your guns, shield, class mod, and grenade mod. Fallout 3 lets you customize weapons, 2 pieces of armor, and the med/food storage of the player. It's pretty equal, only Fallout 3's armor actually changes the appearance of the character. Granted, that feature is useless in an FPS where one can't see themselves (Bethesda gave F3 a 3rd person mode though, so you could enjoy that T51-b power armor)
has good graphics
A weak argument. I'd prefer the argument of Aesthetics. There's a lot of cool stuff on the surface of the Capital Wasteland, various buildings and locations to explore. However it's all in different shades of brown. I also got kind of tired that the subway system was consistently copy-pasted. Just because a game looks realistic doesn't mean it's not fun (see Minecraft, DeathSpank, SuperMeatBoy, Fable)
Borderlands uses cel-shading to make itself look like a comic book, because that's the tone of the game. There's over the top violence that isn't as dark as F3, a humongous amount of slapstick humor, and it's just a very "bouncy" game, for lack of a better word. The cel-shading allowed Gearbox to craft the mood for the game, to let people know that this game is about having fun and shooting things.
has a point to the game
What is the point to any game? Why do we fire pixels at the invading pixels? Why do we slide blocks to make rows? Why do we destroy the pigcops? Why do we criticize certain pastries' legitimacy? Games are FUN. the point of a game is to be FUN. Borderlands does that, as does Fallout 3.
nd there are so much cheats for Borderlands
Obviously you haven't played Fallout 3 on the PC. the PC community is known to mod the crap out of Bethesda games, so just because a game can be adjusted doesn't mean anything about its quality. Unless they use those modded guns on me in a duel, then I get vicious.
Overall, Fallout 3 is a very 9.75 game, nearly perfect, but a bit too brown and copy-pasted for me-not too mention that I never was a fan of that zoom-in face thing with the conversation. (Borderlands avoids that problem by avoiding conversation completely, but that's not necessarily the right move)
Borderlands is a very 9.25 game. One of the best games of the genre and a gem to remember. It's not as good as Fallout 3, but is definitely a good over-the-top substitute.
PS - I've been waiting for a LONG time for someone to finally make this thread.
