But seriously, no other plane in the United States Navy is as versatile, lethal, and awesome as it. No other plane will ever be as versatile. All this F35 nonsense, it won't ever fly in my book. It's too wimpy, and quite frankly, it isn't nor ever will be able to come out of top when trying to face down F15's, F/A 18's, or F16's. It will never have the same capabilities, nor be as versatile. It just won't.
I beg to differ. The VTO version of the aircraft is more versatile than the F/A 18. Due to its design, it has a range of more than double that of the F/ 18. Not only that, but like the Raptor, it incorporates stealth technology into its design, pretty much a decisive factor in a BVR dogfight. WVR, perhaps a F15, F16 or F/A 18 would stand a chance, however in a combat situation, the chances of that happening are almost zero.
Essentially it is the ultimate multirole aircraft. The F/1 18 is versatile. The F35 is in another league altogether.
Also, it will NEVER be as awesome as any of our modern planes. Ever. No matter what.
A claim introduced without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. I guess we'll see how the F35 stads up to the F/A 18 once it has been used more extensively, however looking at the specs of the two aircraft, it's fairly easy to see which is superior on paper.
Assume I learn how to shoot down said multirole aircraft.
There goes half your airforce.

The F35 employs the same stealth technoilogy as the F22, which in simulations and combat tests defeated all the aircraft you mentioned. The only way to shoot down these aircraft is with the aid of long wave radar, which is far too bulky to incorporate into aircraft design, and so isn't really a problem. In any case the US Navy ahas already started work on a NGJ which would render long wave radar ineffective at identifying the aircraft.
And has it ever been used at all?
''The USAF has conducted an analysis of the F-35's air-to-air performance against all 4th generation fighter aircraft currently available, and has found the F-35 to be at least four times more effective. Maj Gen Charles R. Davis, USAF, the F-35 program executive officer, has stated that the "F-35 enjoys a significant Combat Loss Exchange Ratio advantage over the current and future air-to-air threats, to include Sukhois".''
