Anybody seen the one where Bender needs to get an upgrade?
The compatibility patch? Yeah. That's a favourite of mine because it actually explores a deeper theme and demonstrates why I'm specifically a fan of the show.
Futurama differs from a lot of the other animated series, i.e. South Park, Family Guy, even Groenig's own The Simpsons in that while the episode format is largely the same, the original vision was to have an evolving sci-fi epic in which the characters actually don't stand for any one thing and stay static, but develop and change and form evolving relationships (by contrast, the Simpson family remain essentially the same while funnily enough it's the auxilliary cast like Ms Krabopple or Patty and Selma or even Flanders that change). While the satire remains topical, of central importance to the bigger plot are themes of sentimenalism and nostalgia, and love and relationships is explored in a way not possible with the static families in the other animations, for precisely the reason that they met each other as strangers and have been bonding and clashing ever since the get-go. In addition, Futurama uses dramatic irony and tragic irony to far greater effect, and isn't afraid to emotionally traumatise their characters on a more permanent basis (though still does mitigate many of the consequences, e.g. Zoidberg reattaches Fry's arm after cutting it off to make up after their fight... albeit the wrong way around, but that's just because he's incompetent!)
This said I've been holding off on watching the new episodes because I haven't gotten around to watching the bridging movie-length episodes between the first four seasons and the new seasons D:

i've seen the movies, i had the tv on while some of the new episodes were on but didn't actually pay any attention to them. i was distracted. i heard they're still pretty good.
i love futurama, so extremely very terribly much. for the same reasons strop said, it's more than just a funny cartoon, it's got brilliant character development. i have never had a cartoon touch me on an emotional level like that. it felt... tingly.
like, for example, the dog episode? or the one about fry's brother? the real fan's should know which ones i'm talking about.
Yes, 'Jurassic Bark' and 'Luck of the Fryish' are two of my favorite episodes. Of last season, my favorite is Rebirth. I mean, what idiot pilots a spaceship right into the freaking road, nose down.
hope they will be good at the moment i am watching repeats on sky1 and such but i hope they don't change things to much because i hate when stuff changes to much if it isn't better.
