You can't do that in Gemcraft 1.
Supergemming is only in Chapter 0.
Supergemming means combining lower grade gems into a bigger one to maximize it's damage (reach 222/279).

correction:
-> "to maximize it's speed"
(and damage later)

supergemming in GC1 exists, and is easier a little, though that gem will end up being 8-colored, however any specials can be maxed out - I'd say use red, orange or yellow, and cyan as primary specials.But then, most of the score in GC1 comes from early waves called, but don't forget manapool. So if you start with a maxed high grade, combine your G6s into a G7, then combine your G7 with whatever low-grades you're given, then up mana pool to the top, then send monsters and watch them being blasted. Use mana pool to get score, as soon as possible, but if you're close to the end, either supergem more (if epic field), or place towers and do other stuff for battle amulets. I'm not sure whether 1e9 scores are possible by normal means, I have never tried maxing scores really.

Actually, I've found supergemming to be easiest in chapter 1; I'm fairly certain it got nerfed in chapter 0 so that you either have to use gems that are one level below your "main" gem or you'll get barely any effect out of the process. I've never really bothered with it in Labyrinth for the sole reason that bloodbound gems don't need to be supergemmed to keep up.

Just finished another run of chapter 1. Considering that I got glowing frame scores on everything (and a bunch of points on top of that; some levels I came close to twice the required score!!) and am only level 90 with ~280m points, I'm 100% certain it's impossible to break 1 billion points without some sort of hax in chapter 1.

Now, in the other games... that's a different story entirely. I don't think anyone's managed to beat all 506 waves of endurance on every level in chapter 0 (doing so would result in some exorbitant amount of points, most likely close to 1b, if not breaking 1b entirely), and Labyrinth has enough fields to where 1b should be plenty easy to hit in premium; last I checked I was just over 100m and I've only done maxing runs on the first 2/5 of the game, and I'm not even on premium...

Sorry for the triple post :S

Scratch what I said about being over 100m in Labyrinth; I'm only at 1.1m there... not so sure about 1b being possible any more >_>

Max scores in chapter 0 was >10 trillions on one map.
In labyrinth... I will set highest highscore ~3,5trln, i need 2 more weeks.
BTW, all-settings endurances in labyrinth summary will give more than 3-4 trlns(E8, for example - 120 mln...)

Archlord, you don't need endurance to score big in GC0, and in fact endurance there is more fast-paced than beyond corruption in terms of monsters HP, which is the only factor that matters in there, as armor in GC0 is pretty pitiful and lowerable. I haven't tried the 228 aka playing last level without bombing out Gem of Eternity, where people earn more than 10 trillion, I have only ran #75 normal and got 43 billion score (43m exp) using pretty much the same techniques that were brought to the extremes by GC0 fans. Supergemming in GC0 is about the same as in GC1, the main difference is that 8-colored gems are capped by firing speed while being lower grade, which is the most essential parameter. You don't need supergemming in GCL, mainly because increasing grade is more cost-effective, and since specials are not limited, is always beneficial, an L/Y gem grows by a factor of 3.5 overall efficiency per grade.
