I missed one of the symbols, the two posts above can be deleted since they are messed up.
A few reasons why I prefer console gaming over computer gaming: The controller is more comfortable for me, I'm used to holding the controller with both hands and playing games that way. I've been doing it for years now. I like to be comfortable while playing games, so that means that I like to sit on my bed, in a chair, or even a couch when playing.
While with computer gaming I have to sit in my chair and I have this small screen to look at. My television screen is much larger and lets me view things better. It won't be fun playing games on a 15.6" laptop screen, when I have a 40" television in my room. And I already have many games on my console, all the accessories and such. I'm not saying that computer gaming is bad, it's just not what I like. I understand the ups of computer gaming, and how it could be good. But I prefer console gaming over computer gaming since it's better for me.
I prefer console gaming. Since it's cheaper and much more easier to play on. I look at consoles as something for gaming and I look at computers as something that gives you Internet access. I don't want to have to purchase games, a mouse, and other things so that I'm able to play on my computer. I'd rather play on consoles since I can play with most of my friends that way. And most of them do play games on their consoles rather than their computer.
Also, I'm on a laptop, and it wasn't created for gaming. If I attempted to play PC games on my computer then it would go slower. So that means that I would have to go out and purchase a computer that was designed for gaming. I'd rather purchase a console and games for it because it's cheaper and more efficient.

This is true, however you can easily hook up your console controllers to a PC and just use those (especially since loads of games these days are made with consoles in mind and later ported over to PC).

This is actually somewhat of a moot point, since you can hook up your computer to pretty much all modern TVs.
Since it's cheaper
Granted I'm not sure on US prices, but over here, PC games are generally cheaper than console games.

Just a random sidenote: PCs are also the starting platform for Indie Developers, since all the console companies actually demand you have a registered office to make official games for the consoles (the exception being the X-Box live indie games section).
So that means that I would have to go out and purchase a computer that was designed for gaming.
I realise this requires a bit of knowledge on the subject, but with smart planning you can build a very capable PC with a similar price point as a console (admittedly you'd be unable to play on max details for the newest of games, but I can't say I care for graphics anyways; my PC will be 3 years old soon, and it still plays pretty much anything).
Mind you, I'm not disagreeing with you, but just wanted to clear up some moot points that people generally use against PCs. I generally agree with anything I didn't quote ;P

From what I looked at online, a decent desktop will cost about $600-700. With that, I could just get a console.
I do see the pros of PC Gaming, but it's just not for me because I don't have all that extra money for it. And I've been playing with consoles for years now, so I prefer it. :P
If I had the money to get a decent PC for gaming, then I might get a few games for it that aren't available on consoles. In a few months I should be getting a desktop, so I'll possibly get one or two games. Everything else, though, will be played on a console.
That's the thing, pre-built PCs are generally overpriced at focus on unneeded things to increase the price (ZOMG 1 BILLION GB OF RAM).
If you really want to have a cheap desktop, you'd need to build it yourself by buying parts seperately (which is why I said you'd need atleast some degree of knowledge on these things).
My own PC cost something in the range 400-500 (which is around the price range you listed, though german EVERYTHING is generally heavily overpriced >.< back in October 08. You could probably get the same PC I have for less than half of what I paid for it. Back then, the PS3 was more expensive than my new PC (granted, I also use it a lot for school related things).
Of course, a console will ultimately be cheaper in 2011 but that's because they are 5 years old as is. PC hardware pretty much always evolves so it's hard to decide on what you REALLY need (you really only need a middle class PC to play all modern games). It's easy to get confused in the massive amount of different hardware configurations.
Also, DO check out Indie games. Most of them are super cheap (if not free) and should even run on your Laptop ;P
I would do that, but I'm not very tech savvy, so I don't know how to build my own computer.
If I do play games on my PC, I don't think any of my friends do. So the fun meter won't be very high.
The fact that I'm not very tech savvy and basically none of my friends play on the PC, I think it would be best if I stick with console gaming. With that $600-700 dollars it can get me a console, controllers, few games, and online gameplay(depends on the console I'm purchasing.) The PS3 only costs $300. Plus tax I would say about $320, or so, then I would have $300-400 left over for other things.
I'll probably check out that site later. But I don't have a mouse, I use a trackpad, so I imagine that the controls will be awkward if I decide to play games on this laptop.

Not so much a website, but the general term for independant games, basically commercial games that aren't backed by major publishing companies or made by large developement teams (think Minecraft).
Most of those are compatible with controllers anyway so you shouldn't have much of a problem. ;D Steam might be the first stop to look since most devopers put indie games on Steam because of it's popularity.
i gotta say i prefer using my mouse and keyboard for playing games and i could just hook up a controller if i wanna use it, buuut my problem is my computer is a hunk of (insert bad word of your choice here) and wont play anything i lag, lots, so most of the time i just play on my ps3 but if the games for both computer and playstation ill get it for computer if it will run. I just prefer it.
Its nice to be able to play on a console and relax on the couch. In addition no need to keep up with an expensive gaming PC. Its way cheaper to get a console and be able to play games at max settings lag free and not have to worry.

I think you missed the point of what he is saying. PC games themselves(not the PC) are actually cheaper, most cost about $50 on Steam or less, especially since Steam holds sales that can make a $40 cost $20 for a short period of time, and then there are preorder sales that can make a game that would cost $60 on an Xbox 360 cost about $45 on the PC. If you look at it from this perspective you may actually end up saving money in the long run.
I understood what he said. However, I have to get a new PC and the games just to play. And anyway, I don't play many games since only a few appeal to me. So it wouldn't be a problem, in the long run it would be cheaper and better for me to stick with console gaming.
I enjoy both types of gaming, but I prefer console gaming over online gaming.
Console games are often longer (I love long, difficult games!) and more in-depth. They also have better story lines and music, and the graphics are much better (however, graphics aren't a major factor at all in my gaming choices, I love N64 games even though the graphics are bad). Also, to play console games I have a big TV so it feels like I'm right there!
However, Internet/online games allow for interaction with real people, which I really enjoy. Unfortunately, playing them requires you to sit in the same way on a chair the entire time. Also, the computer screen is much smaller than a TV. Another thing: I prefer controllers over keyboards. Controllers just feel more natural for gaming (I wonder why?).
I love games like MarioKart Wii that are on consoles, but allow for online interaction; except MarioKart gets hacked a lot.
