the years of 2000-2010 saw 3 console generations, Shadow of the Colossus, three iconic Sony cartoon mascots, a super soldier, the return of an old Italian, a fallen Greek Soldier, an underwater city, Player Choice, and of course, the EyeToy (i remember that thing...)
But there were eleven games in that era that stood above the others, games that rocked the house and proved they were the best of the best. And I want to see how the public feels about what was truly the Game of The Decade.
So what's the better game? Does Red Dead hold a candle to legendary Resident Evil 4, a game universally acclaimed as the second best game ever, only lesser than 2004's Half-Life 2?
Were you having more fun searching for treasures in Uncharted 2 back in 2009, or roaming the hall of Rapture in 2007's Bioshock?
And Bethesda vs Bethesda, was Fallout 3 just Oblivion with guns, or was it able to heal itself with enough Blood Packs to be better than its predecessor?
This is a question to you, Armorgames Community, what was the best Game Of The Year?
2010's Red Dead: Redemption from Rockstar
2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves from Naughty Dog
2008's Fallout 3 from Bethesda
2007's BioShock from 2K Boston
2006's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from Bethesda
2005's Resident Evil 4 from Capcom
2004's Half-Life 2 from Valve
2003's Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic from BioWare
2002's Metroid Prime from Nintendo
2001's Halo: Combat Evolved from Bungie
2000's Deus Ex from Ion Storm Inc.
so what's your favorite and why?
Legitimate arguments -
-lasting appeal -aesthetic quality -"Game is Art"? -compare to year's competition -revolutionary?
and anything else of that sort
Illegitmate arguments
-Online play assessments ~ a wise brit in australia once said that multiplayer cannot be properly assessed due to the mass amount of variations that can occur in game -It wuz fun-esque answers. don't be stupid -the non-existent argument. If you feel strongly about something, there's a reason for it, and please tell us.
Well get to it gents!
my personal Game of the Decade (GOTD) was Halo: Combat evolved. The perfect campaign, it had a colorful atmosphere, a unique artstyle from the time, and it may seem like a primitive game nowadays, there's a reason Microsoft is re-releasing the game in HD, it's still that fun. With Halo: CE brought many modern FPS norms - 2 gun limit, regenerative health, all that jazz. Halo really defined gaming of the decade, and while other shooters and games come out and get better and better, they all look to the original Halo for inspiration.
