I've seen both bands live and i prefer Metallica. They're better at keeping the crowd pumpin' and i prefer their songs. My favourite band member is Kirk Hammet and my favourite song is Enter sandman.
This one is very difficult for me. Mustaine and Hetfield have very fitting vocals, Mustaine and Hammett have awesome solos, Ellefson and Burton are easily two of the greatest bassists, and Friedman and Hetfield are very good in their parts. However, Megadeth has fewer bad songs in my opinion, and they've had a better choice of song covers. Don't get me wrong, I love both Megadeth and Metallica, but I have to vote for Megadeth.
pff this isnt even close. Megadeth everyday of the week. they have only one bad album while Metallica has 3. James Hetfield cant sing anymore. all of Metallica's songs sound relatively the same. Megadeth has the second best album of all time. Metallica doesnt have as many albums out (not too big a deal, but still a contributing factor). Metallica sells-out on songs that suck. Megadeth sells out on songs that rock forever and melt faces. not to mention that some Metallica songs just down right annoy me.
my fav Megadeth band member is obviously Dave Mustaine. he is 20th in my top 20 male vocalists of the metal genres. and he is 6th in my top 20 guitarists of all time.
