Recently, China has decided to change the amount of boys and girls, via, after a pregnancy test, if it is a girl, it will probably result in the death of the girl. I would like your thoughts on this approach.
Both, Rural areas in China [and other countries] have other means
which in turn is because of poverty, and not because of the governments.
Very true. Unless the government is evil making them poor.
Anyways, I don't know if it's a good idea, but as long as they're just talking about abortions and not killing anyone who's already alive, I can't say I feel very strongly against it either.
There are many baby girls that are put up for adoption. [Seeing as some areas don't allow for screening to know the gender of a child]. [And gender-selected abortions are illegal] So although you don't mind abortions, how about the orphan issue?
The one child policy isn't that you can only give birth once, it's that you may only raise one child. Letting one go still opens up the door.

I think at week 20 or something like that you can say if it's a boy or a girl. Where I live it's forbidden to abort later than week 13 (except for medical issues etc.). I don't know exactly when an embryo begins to feel pain but you should only be able to abort in the first few weeks. Also I see problems for the women. The Chinese government doesn't allow an abortion just because you don't want a girl (as far as I know). So I could imagine that the pregnant women have to go to dubious doctors for an abortion. This can cause medical problems, even death. Also you have to see that an abortion can cause psychological problems for the women. An abortion may be necessary sometimes but it surely isn't desirable.
Hope this helps on the sources. I'll look for more tomorrow when i can be bothered. My personal information is from a 2008 Geography A-level paper, so i hope the sources provide better information.
Also the average latest you can have an abortion in the US is 24 weeks.
Also, genetically, boys are no stronger than girls, its just that the government is rather sexist, no, very sexist, and soon there might be a massive war, one which countries who had nothing to do with it will be brought in to the bloodshed.
Well then, its obvious people don't mind sexism, the killing of innocent babies and humongous, cheap factories. I'll have to wait for the sun flares then. Maybe W.I.C.K.E.D will show up. If not, the world will have fun being over populated.

Actually, it is easier for males to build muscles, thus resulting in men usually being stronger than women.
If not, the world will have fun being over populated.
The fact that one of the most populated countries in the world is trying to make sure less girls are born would, if anything, slow down overpopulation.
and humongous, cheap factories
Well, they love cheap prices, so they tend to forget about the second part. It's been going on for many years, and it's the reason why many companies move their factories to China, which will also mean less jobs in the Western world.
I don't really see how hormones are important to this.
China have always been centered on under population after their boost in population scheme got out of hand. The one child policy, although many can argue a breach of human rights) was a good move implemented with female infanticide being such a horrible aspect of it.
Although they want boys to work etc, their gender demographics are ridic. If anything, it should be male infanticide to get their female numbers back up - No, i don't actually support this, just a thought.
If anything, it should be male infanticide to get their female numbers back up
I can't see the logic or reasoning behind this. Granted, the reasoning behind the original idea isn't all that good, but at least there is one.
Anyways, about the original question of "Good or Bad?", I'd say the results will most likely be positive, but the means by which they achieve them could be considered unethical. It's easy for naive Americans and Europeans to just say it's cruel and a crime against human rights, without considering what their situation is like. Personally, I think the Chinese government does what they think is best during this overpopulation crisis, and even though corruption might be present in their government, I don't doubt that they want China to prosper.
So to summarize it, I think it's harsh, but I also don't think their government would do it unless they thought it was necessary.

Males naturally have a larger percent of muscle cells in them, as well. Look at brothers and sisters, not an Asian dude to a Nigerian girl, and it's a little obvious.

The idea was to not strain resources on a growing population that wouldn't really give an economic success to the nation. I'm guessing they just didn't realize that their culture and job market would lead to guys being favored over girls. :S
I mean, imagine a father with a farm in China, but he's on the outskirts of a city. Nobody is really going to expect him to be happy with a daughter.
Its far from positive today. Imagine living in a country were like 1/5 of the man have no woman for them. The social damage is unimaginable. Also, this problem is now starting in various other less developed countries like Saudi Arabia for example.
The OP said it happened recently, and the article you linked to was relatively recent. In addition to that, I haven't seen anything about what effects it would have; if people want boys anyway I think abortions would be preferable to putting up all the girls for adoption in a country where people don't want to adopt girls.
Besides, as I said, I think the results will be good, even if it could be considered unethical. An overpopulation crisis wont be solved in a few years, regardless of whether the abortions work or not.
And, in case it wasn't obvious, when I said the results would be good even if it was unethical, I didn't mean it was good that girls were aborted, I meant it might help deal with the crisis.
I'm just adding those comments about it being unethical to make sure people don't misunderstand the whole thing. Personally, I don't have anything against abortions, but that doesn't affect this post because I am not trying to talk about whether it is ethical or not. I made that last part bold 'cus I'm guessing that's what you meant with it not being positive.
