I'm looking to branch out a little more into metal. If anyone knows any metal bands that I haven't heard of, please give me their name, a link to one of their songs, and if they're still active or not.

Seeing you're more into the Heavier department, I recommend these, with albums.
Atheist - Get every album. - Active. Cynic - Get oth albums. - Pretty sure still active. Enslaved - Get Vertebrae, Isa, Ruun and Axioma Ethica Odini. If you like those, you might want to check them out further. - Active. Opeth - Get Still Life and Blackwater Park, but they're all good. - Active; new album in September. Edge of Sanity - Get Crimson. It's glorious. Seriously, do it. - Not sure if active.

As for activity, I have no idea. M8l8th's singer is facing life in prison, Autopsy hasn't released an album in forever (that I know of, I could be wrong), and I doubt Disilllusion's activity. The rest are likely active/semi-active.
