For everything TF2

now that steam has made it free!

TF2 free forever

you heard correctly nerds, TF2 is now free to play. but that shouldnt discourage the people who already purchased it, you get a shiny new proof of purchase hat!

HOW FANTASTIC.
also this thread will be now diverted to the new flood of newbs to TF2 who have questions on an awesome game

TF2 Vs MW2

first of all let me just say that this game does involve more skill than any other game you play, the classes are balanced and each has it's own unique niche in the greater scheme of the game.

Download your free game!!!!!!! and join the superior gaming race of PC users

I have a question, well actually two questions about TF2 f2p.
First: I will list the most important minimum system requirements and my system specs in a row first off...
CPU: 1.2 GHz Processor - I have 1.9 ghz
RAM: 256 MB - I have a bit under 2gb
Graphics Card: DirectX 7 capable graphics card - I have GeForce 6100 (DirectX 9 capable)
Windows 2000/XP/ME/98 - I have XP
Why doesn't the game run fluid for me. I play on lowest settings and 1024x768 resolution (1280x980 native) and it runs on something on 10 fps (estimated) But there is no obvious reason for that.

Second question: If I buy Garry's Mod, will it work with Team Fortress 2 f2p? Because under tools, I can only find Source SDK Base but not Source SDK. I found that strange because I've read that you have to download Source SDK.
Thanks in advance

I dont think TF2 takes more skill then other games it's just different I've been playing it for awhile on my bros account but now I can have my own because it's F2P the only annoying thing is I have to buy a steam game to add friends on steam and buy something off tf2 to trade properly and thats going to cost me like 10 pounds (GBP)
because you have to add atleast 4 pounds on man co store and I'm going to get terraria which is 6 pounds.

It's a good game I would definetly reccomend it

No.

Really, besides a few classes like medics and engineers, it goes like this.

You run out.

You shoot the other team.

You die.

Pretty boring.

Again! Another example that PC gaming is making a comeback after all these years of these samey brown console shooters! (something I've had to deal with)

besides that, I think Meet the Medic is like, the best, definitely the most intense, but still not as funny as Soldier or Heavy.

This kind of exposure that TF2 will get now that its free will inspire countless of people who are stuck in the pits of CoD and company to finally see what a good shooter is; some of them may be future game designers that will push the medium further when they eventually make games inspired by the perfection of TF2.

False, yes I choose false.
Let me break your favorite fps out for you

Teen/Tween screams that you are a noob.
You get spawned killed
You run out
You get insta-headshot
You get spawned killed
Your run out
You die.
Tween screams.

I'm not sure your failtrolling or if you really don't understand video games in the slightest.

It's an awesome team based game that is now free, what's not to like. Sure the shop is kinda lameish, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience.

That'd be relevant if I had one.

I just explained my experience on TF2.

Lol at the comic.

I love TF2, and have been playing it for over a year. I'm pretty good with each class, better with others (soldier, pyro, and sniper). My brother has over 1000 hours of playing it. It's pretty much crap on the consoles (I'm looking at you xbox and PS3 without steamworks). I was pretty frustrated when a about half a year ago they just started throwing hats at people for little to no reason, ruining the current state of hats being rare items. Then they released crafting which made hats even less valuable due to idolers (they fixed this by limiting the amount of items you can gain in a week). Mapping for it is also pretty fun, i made a map for a friend of mine's server once. Valve is supposedly losing money off TF2 by giving out free updates all the time, but it's mainly their way of attracting new users to steam.

I got tf2 yesterday, haven't played until about 20 minutes ago.

I'm Hooked. First FPS I've played that isn't just Point, Click, Headshot, Get blown up, Respawn, Rinse and Repeat. I thought that heavy would be my thing, but it turns out that pyro is more fun for me. This is a pretty diverse game. (Of course, I always wear the "Alien Swarm Parasite" on my head."
