Okay, so, apparently TRF wants to lose the old thread until such time as Dibs sees fit to return. So, as per his request, I have made a new thread. I, of course, don't see exactly why this is necessary, but I suppose it won't hurt anything to accommodate Turf. So, I guess this will just be a continuation of the prior thread with the old characters and we'll pick up where Dibs left off. I suggested that Noob DM this one, but being that he doesn't have any of the source material beyond what's on the internet, he declined. That being the case, if there are no objections, I guess I will be DMing this one. I won't have access to my books myself for another week or two, so if it's okay, I guess I'll be using a homemade campaign. And as far as the campaign goes, expect to see a lot of stuff that's not exactly D&D canon, because, as I said, I don't have my sourcebooks right now. Unless, of course, someone else wants to DM, in which case, I'd be more than happy to step aside. Unfortunately, I do not think that this game will be accepting any more players. This thread is here for the sole purpose of reducing clutter in the other. It will actually be a lot easier - it was getting to be a pain, navigating that other one with all the pages it had(we were almost at 4,000!). To start off, I'm going to request that we all post our sheets(I'll track mine down later) and if there is anyone who would like to DM or has any requests to that effect or which concern the next campaign, speak now or forever hold your peace. Cheers.
Do we have a cleric in the party? If not, then I'll change my character, because it's best that we have a cleric and wizard. And how many characters do we have?
Hmm...seems sort of like slim pickings being that this campaign is for 4-6 players levels 8-10, but I guess it will have to do. If you guys feel that it's too difficult, just let me know and I will bring in another character, mkay?
Ya'll aren't in Waterdeep anymore, Toto.
Location: Eshpurta, Amn. Time: 11 Mirtul, Year 1367 DR
You have decided to get some R&R in the town of Eshpurta after your last adventure. Eshpurta is a small Amnian town off a tributary of Lake Esmel.
You are walking down the main street of Eshpurta, learning the lay of the place and taking in the sights. Across the street and just up ahead, you see a smallish man struggling with an old woman dressed rather like a gypsy. They are shouting at each other in front of a place called Bhamm's Herbs. She tries to run from him, but he has hold of her sleeve and she cannot escape. The attacker is trying to snatch her over-sized leather pouch with his free hand, his hooded cape fluttering in the breeze. What will you do?
As soon as the man sees you approach, he turns and runs away. You decide that the old woman is the priority, but she seems fine. The old woman straightens, smoothing out her brightly colored skirt. "Thank you, thank you all," she says. "My name is Ellana. I have little money to repay your kindness, I am afraid. However, I could buy you a cup of tea and read your fortune." She smiles at you. "I'm very good, you know."
Traits: Immunity to magic sleep effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects, Low-Light Vision, +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it.
You enter the shop Bhamm's Herbs, and Ellana buys you all a cup of tea, then ushers you to the tables, which are outside of the shop. As you each take a seat, she produces a deck of about 70 or 80 cards. You watch as Ellana shuffles the cards and lays them out according to some arcane pattern. As she places the thirteenth and final card, she closes her eyes and passes her hands over them. Suddenly she stops, her face drained of color. "No, no, that cannot be," she whispers to herself. "Change it, can you change it? Oh!" Her eyes snap open and she stares at you. With a hoarseness in her voice that was not present before, she says, "I am sorry, the cards don't seem to be speaking with me today. That, or they lie, it is difficult to say. But I can tell you one thing," She stops, reaches into her pouch, and produces an unusually shaped blood-red gemstone, which she hands to you. "You need this far more than I ever will." As she stands, her eyes betray dread. "I must leave now," she tells you hastily, "take care my friends, take good care. All is known in time. Guard that stone with your lives, for it may well be your life." She hurries away.
"Well," says Montague, languidly sipping his tea. "That was dramatic."
