I've watched some of their videos. What I still can't figure out is how they manage to obtain so many views and such a large following without being the least bit entertaining.

It's Ray William Johnson's project, the man behind =3 (pronounced "equals three", which is one of the most viewed shows on YouTube. He keeps telling people to check out his new music videos in his =3 episodes, and I guess that's where all the views come from.
Anyways, I loved the Stereotypes song, mostly because he got it wrong and claimed Scotsmen were known for "being friendly" with sheep, when it's actually the Welsh. Why was that funny? Because my guild leader in WoW was Scottish when I first heard it, and I never stopped teasing him about the sheep thing.
Anyways, he's really funny in =3, but in Your Favourite Martian, it's just kind of amusing without really making you laugh. It's not bad, but I'm not a fan either.

There are small nuances you cant realize without knowing the past jokes from the '=3'. But colours and pleasures differs so i know what you mean.
